But in human terms, the roles are reversed.
Then, a backup becomes the meager low quality you have to settle for because the original is out of reach. The backup is just a second thought, and will never be noticed unless the original is out of the picture. Most times, the backup is just an intermediary to get to the main thing. The backup has no real admirers and no real friends, because every compliment is strategically placed to get to the original and every bond will dissolve as soon as that goal is accomplished.
Safe to say a backup never realizes who or what it really is. They never notice how any advance made towards them is ingenuine and how they stand out like sore thumbs among their peers. To be a backup is truly miserable because just like the chicken that is only fed to be killed, they are only met to be broken in the end.
So we will meet the good, the bad, the ugly, the misunderstood, the inferior and the superior.
We will journey into the life of Jung Hoseok and see through his eyes the full cost of being a backup.
To be unwanted.
To be unpreferable.
To be a substitute.
