"How are you feeling, darling?" Ethan asks Aera quietly as Jasmine fusses over the young girl.

"I'm fine, unnie," she whines, making Jasmine slow down, sighing as she rests her hand on Aera's leg. "What happened?" she asks them, feeling confused as to why she's at the hospital again.

Aera's never been too fond of hospitals, which is why the couple wanted to be there with her when she woke up.

"You fainted, darling" "You met your soulmates," Ethan and Jas say at the same time, making all three of them laugh.

"I thought soulmates are supposed to be able to finish each other's sentences," Jasmine says, wiggling her eyebrows playfully.

"It's not my fault you're an odd woman," Ethan deadpans, making them all laugh again as his wife smacks him in the chest.

"There's that beautiful smile," Jas says, smoothing down Aera's hair as she pokes the girl's dimples.

Aera just rolls her eyes, moving her head away from her friend before speaking up again. "I have soulmates?" she asks softly, preparing for them to tell her that they were joking. The hesitant hope in her eyes breaking both her friends' hearts as they wish they could protect her from the world. She has suffered through so much; lost so much, when she deserved none of it.

"You do, love," Jasmine tells her with a soft smile as she continues to play with Aera's hair. "They seem to be very kind and are very worried about you," she tells the young girl gently, "And they're very handsome too," she finishes with a laugh.

"You know I'm right here, right?" Ethan teases, acting jealous.

"They're her soulmates, not mine," Jasmine snaps back with a fond roll of her eyes. Aera watches their interaction with a smile, being used to the closeness between the two. She had lost hope of ever having that connection with anyone ages ago when she never got her mark. Yet every year around her birthday, she would wish something could change.

She would wish that she didn't have to be so alone anymore. As much as she loves her friends, she's yearned for the love they have for each other. The love that goes beyond their physical attraction, bonding at a deeper level. Soulmates are chosen for each other by design, which is why Aera often felt so alienated. It wasn't just that she didn't have a mark, it was more that she felt like she didn't belong because there was no one compatible with her. No one made for her.

"Are you sure?" she whispers hesitantly, breaking out of her thoughts. "I don't even have a mark," she continues, looking away from the couple to hide how vulnerable she felt.

"I'm sure," Jasmine says gently, coaxing Aera to look at her. "You'll know when you see them," she tells her.

"They're here?" Aera asks, feeling panicky but excited at the same time.

"Right outside the door," Ethan speaks up. "Like we said, they've been very worried about you. It's cute," he smiles as Aera blushes, hiding her face under the covers.

"How many?" she asks curiously. Most people don't have more than 1 soulmate, but 2-3 soulmates isn't unheard of, although it is frowned upon by society.

Jasmine and Ethan send each other a silent look, knowing that Aera would freak out if she knew how many soulmates she has. Aera had gone through a bad experience with men, making her weary of being around groups of them.

"Let's just say, you're going to get a lot of love," Jasmine tells her, avoiding the question and the confused look on the young girl's face.

"Ya, we're going to have to fight for your attention now," Ethan sighs dramatically, pouting as he fake falls onto Aera's legs, making her giggle.
