"Y/N? Did you not do your homework?" asked Snape.

I shook my head. A few of my classmates stared at me in shock. I had always done my homework in the past.

"I'm sorry, I forgot it in my locker and by the time I realized, the doors leading into the school were already closed." I lied. In fact, I had the unfinished homework in my backpack.

"Don't repeat this mistake." grumbled Snape. I nodded my head and turned to my left to stare out the window. Everything seemed to go by slowly. And in a way, I felt empty.

The bell rung and I rose from my seat. Instead of heading towards Draco as I usually did, I decided to simply exit the classroom. After all, he'd probably want to spend time with his new girlfriend. He wouldn't have time for his childhood friend any more. I approached the stairwell and made my way up to the Astronomy Tower's highest floor. I knew it was off limits for students, but I couldn't care less. I threw open the door and took a seat on the ledge. I needed some time to think; some time to clear my thoughts. I stared down at my feet which dangled over 15 stories of air.

Would it be less painful if I jumped now?

I quickly shook my head from my thoughts.

How could I possibly think that?!

Sighing, I stared down at the ground below me.

"Don't do it!" yelled a voice behind me. I turned my head to face them with a confused expression.

"Are you talking to me?" I asked, staring at them.

"I don't know what you're going through right now, but it isn't worth it." I sighed and retreated away from the ledge.

"I'm not jumping." I said, looking at them. "Just thinking."

"Oh... um... That's a bit awkward..." they mumbled.

"Yeah, it is." I said with a laugh. "I'm Y/N Clearwater." I introduced.

"Lune Lovegood." she replied. I nodded my head and gave her a smile.

"Thanks for being concerned though." I said, returning to the ledge. "It's nice up here, gives me a chance to think."

"To think about what? If I may ask."

"It's not certain, but I think I only have a week or two left to live." I said, letting the wind blow through my hair.

"Are you sick?" she asked.

"Sick? I guess. I mean the word 'disease' is in the name." I replied, "Perhaps you've heard of it; Hanahaki Disease." I turned my head to stare at her. "According to what I read, I only have 2 to 3 weeks."

"Why don't you just get the treatment?" she quickly asked.

"Treatment? I could, but..." My voice trailed off and I turned my head towards the sky. "I don't want to forget him."

"Why don't you just confess?" she asked.

"He's... dating my sister..." I said. The familiar tightening in my chest came back and I began coughing again. It was my fifth fit today. I

t's happening so fast. It's only the second day.

I placed my hand over my mouth as I coughed. Once I had finished, I did my best to take in deep breaths of air, but it felt like something was blocking it. I stared at the hand I'd just coughed into. My eyes widened and I fell backwards onto the roof in shock.

"A-A full flower." I stuttered. Luna immediately rushed to my side. She helped me sit up properly while I stared at the flower with teary eyes.

"A white rose..." she mumbled. I threw the rose off the roof and wept, "Is it really worth it?" she asked, staring into my eyes.

"I..."

"Is he really worth it?" My shoulder drooped and a stared off to the side.

"Yes..." I mumbled. "We knew each other since childhood. I can't just forget him."

"You should get the surgery." she stated. "If you've know each other for that long and he still doesn't feel the same way, it's no use."

"But I-"

"Not to mention the type of flower. A rose. You said you'd have at least two weeks but, the ones with roses only have a few days left."

"W-what? No! It's not true!"

"It is." she stated firmly. "The thorns will pierce your lungs. You don't have too much time left. Just take the surgery and forget him."

"Why does it matter to you?!" I screamed, tears falling from my face, "We don't even know each other. Why do you care so much?" My voice trailed off and I felt weak.

I rose to my feet and made my way back inside the school. Lunch hadn't come to an end yet, but I still made my way towards 1-A. I was about to step inside, but I saw something I would never forget. I quickly darted back behind the cover of the door and slid to the ground with my hand over my mouth. The tears came down even more violently. To put it simply, I wasn't prepared to find them  kissing in the classroom.

"Y/N?" questioned Hermione. She was walking beside Ron. He wore a worried expression. He peeked his head inside the classroom and saw what I had seen. "Let's get out of here." she mumbled, pulling me up and dragging me down the halls with Ron trailing behind us. They guided me out of the school and back to the dorms. The moment we stepped inside, I had my sixth fit. Both Gryffindors stared at me in shock as I fell to my hands and knees, coughing up petals and the occasional whole flower.

"Y/N..." breathed out Hermione. Her hand was clamped over her mouth.

"That damn bastard..." muttered Ron as he clenched his fists.

"I'm fine guys..." I said, standing up from my fit and giving them a fake smile.

"What do you mean you're fine?!" spat Ron. "Don't even think of not getting a treatment!"

"You know...?" I questioned, my voice shaky.

"Y/N... You're not the only one who went through this," said Hermione, "Ron did as well." My eyes widened as I stared at Ron in shock.

"Was it... Hermione?" I questioned. "You two are always so close I-"

"Yes. Yes it was." stated Ron. "Don't tell anyone." I was surprised to hear him serious for once.

"Cross my heart and hope to die." I said, smiling at them.

"Not a good thing to say..." mumbled Hermione.

"Look, guys. I'll be fine. I have at least a few mon-" I began.

"Don't lie your way out of this. The type of flower will get you killed in a couple days. Just get the damn treatment." stated Ron.

I opened my mouth to speak again, but I began coughing instead. I fell to my knees, clutching my throat as I coughed up more flowers. This time, there was blood. I took in shaky breaths as I stared at the mess I had made.

"Go get some rest..." muttered Hermione. "We'll clean this up and tell Snape you weren't feeling well." I nodded my head and stumbled towards the elevator.

All of this is worth it, right?
