After finding that Kathryn had mysteriously disappeared in a car crash trying to leave Storybrooke, Emma and (Y/n) had their hands full with what could turn into her missing persons case. Discovering that David and Kathryn had a call a few hours before she disappeared, they had him in the sheriff's station sitting in Emma's office, waiting to ask him questions he had already answered before.

"Thank you," he said as he was given a mug of tea. "I hope Kathryn is somewhere warm, not out in the cold."

"David," Emma said, drawing in his attention once more. "I think you need to start worrying about yourself a little bit more here.

"Your wife is missing. You're in love with another woman. There's an unexplained phone call..." (Y/n) began listing, her arms crossed as she looked at the ground before bringing her gaze up.

"I know, I know, I just... I can't explain why it says that," he told them, gesturing to the file in Emma's hand. "I didn't do anything to my wife."

"I'm pretty good at spotting a liar, and honestly, liars have better material," Emma told him, and he gave a breath of relief that they believed him. "Now, go home."

"I can go?" David asked as he watched Emma stand, (Y/n) leaning against the doorway with her arms crossed. She wasn't quite sure that David was out of the woods yet.

"We don't even know if there was a crime yet," (Y/n) spoke, watching him.

"So, get some sleep," Emma said, and gestured with her head for him to head out. As he thanked them and stood to leave, he just got past the door in Emma's office before she said, "And, David, maybe get a lawyer."

"A really good lawyer," (Y/n) added on, looking at him curiously. He gave them both a hesitant look before walking away. (Y/n) looked to her sister, asking, "Are you sure we can trust what he says? I mean, look what he did to Mary Margaret."

"They both had hands where hands shouldn't be," Emma told her, making (Y/n) sigh. She didn't trust David as much as Emma did. She barely knew him, or even properly met him, and a few moments with Mary Margaret wasn't going to change that.

"I think I'm gonna head to Granny's before I crash in the apartment for the night," (Y/n) said, grabbing her jacket. "I could really use a hot cocoa right now."

"Bring me back one?" Emma asked, and (Y/n) gave a small smile and nodded her head.

When she reached Granny's, she walked in just in time to hear Ruby and Granny's argument, ending with Ruby shouting out that she was quitting her job. Storming out, she rushed past (Y/n), tearing off her waitress apron and throwing it on the ground before she exited. Standing shocked for a moment, (Y/n) shook it off and went to the front counter to Granny.

"Hi, (Y/n). I'm so sorry about that," Granny apologized as (Y/n) sat down, the younger woman waving it off. "What can I get you."

"Two hot chocolates with cinnamon. One to go, one to stay, please," (Y/n) said, and Granny nodded her head, going to get the drinks for her.

When (Y/n) got her drinks and paid Granny, she took her cup and went to sit down, when she heard that familiar, slightly condescending voice. "Did you figure it out yet?" August asked from his seat.

Looking down at him, he gestured for her to sit across from him, which she did, asking, "Um, figure what out yet?"

"Kathryn," he stated simply, taking another bite of his food. "Everyone's talking about it."

"No one's talking about it because it hasn't been made out to the public yet. Not even the Mirror knows about Kathryn," (Y/n) told him, a little shocked he found out this information so quickly.
