Customer service was hell, the rudeness and cruelty of people can break even the most enthusiastic people. If you could describe hell, that would be customer service.

Sadly, you had been that enthusiastic person and to make it worse, it has been the very first job you got when you turned 18. You worked for a store at customer service and it was brutal, but you stuck to it for a few months until you moved to another job.

Honestly, you can't remember how many jobs you've had now that you turned 24. It was soul crushing to work to sustain your job and people made it even harder to live.

So, now you found yourself working for a food packaging place. Kind of like that, it was alright since you no longer had to deal with the rudeness of people. You worked with others but you were not required to speak with anyone, which was what you liked about this job.

But... It physically demanding, 8+ hours every day and sometimes weekends too. You never needed to ask for hours, they always have you overtime. However, it was exhausting and it was minimum wage. And you couldn't stay there forever, you didn't want to end up physically hurt in the future and all the company will do is well, nothing.

Everything was just... Draining. No matter how much rest you got, you always woke up feeling extremely tired as if you hadn't slept at all. And each morning you fought to get up, and get ready for another day of work.

And you dealt with it, but you were getting tired of it. Most of the time you got the feeling of just walking out and never going back, but you needed the money and you would have to deal with it until you found another source of money.

Scrolling through your phone, you rubbed your face tiredly. Sitting on your couch and scrolling through your phone, watching the social lives of others made you jealous. Jealous that they were seemed to have a good job, a good family and good vacations.

Just a week off, you would kill to get a week off but the only days you got to rest were sick pay. But it wasn't enough, you actually used them when you felt sick, other times when you ran out of those days, you would endure whatever sickness you had and showed up to work.

Your phone vibrated as you received a notification. You almost ignored it, probably an email or something like that but you decided to see what it was when you received another notification.

Unlocking your phone, there was a message from an unknown number.

'Hello [Name. '

'This is Liam Harris. '

Liam Harris, you could say you didn't remember him but you did. You remembered him perfectly, you met him in highschool on your senior year. He transferred to that school but remained on that school for just a few months.

He was such a nerd, as kids used to call him. He was very quiet, and very shy. Not many talked to him, specially since he was new. You ... Weren't popular either, you had just a few friends back then. Friends that you lost contact with when you all graduated.

Liam didn't graduate though, he left a couple of months later for family problems. He never said what that was, until you found out a few years later.

'Oh hey, ' you began to write, pausing as you wondered how he knew your phone number. 'It has been a while, how have you been? ' Pretty good to be honest. He grew up without a father, only for that father to show up when he was just about to turn 18. He was a wealthy kid when Liam's mother met him, they had a thing and well,Liam happened. But what couldn't happen was their relationship, which is why they decided to never get in touch.

But he did, because apparently he never got married and he was the only son he had. The only son who could continue in his company. How did you know? The articles had been very detailed about it.

'Yes. It has. ' He didn't write back, but continued a few minutes later but by calling you instead. You panicked for a few minutes before you accepted the call.

"Hello," his voice had changed but not completely. It sounded just as soft and kind as it was. I know it seems quite odd that I am contacting you now. " And another pause. "And  even more so since I know your number." Before you replied he he continued. "I  know you're struggling now.I always wanted to repay my debt to you for your generosity when we met. Our company is currently hiring a janitor.Perhaps it is not the job you desire, but it will give you other job opportunities in the company. It has other benefits, such as health insurance, paid vacations and other benefits."

Your heart was pounding in your chest with emotions you couldn't describe. Should you be happy to hear about him? After such a long time? It wasn't like you two were childhood friends or anything. " I ... I actually took the liberty to... Get you that position. You must be in shock, which I assume you are not able to reply to me. "

" Sorry. " Letting out those words, it almost sounded like a whisper. " I'm am shocked.... I didn't think I would hear from you. Specially since well, you're Liam H-"

" I wanted to get in touch with you but the circumstances didn't allow it." He let out a long sigh. " It... Hasn't been easy, and it won't get any easier. Anyway, In the next few days, you should be receiving some documents and things you will need. The details will be there, if you want it you can show up to the location on those documents. Just follo-" someone called out to him, " just follow the directions and you should be fine. I hope you take advantage of this opportunity, I know you deserve better but that's... That's all I could get you for now. I have to go but I hope we can stay in touch. Take care. "

It almost felt as if he wanted to stay and talk, but everything seemed as if it had been calculated? As if he already knew that this call would be short so he cut to the chase and told you want he needed to say.

Warmth spread through your chest in excitement, to get his call but to also hear these news. That company offered a lot of benefits to their employees, no matter what tittle they had. That why was their positions always filled out right away; everyone wanted to work for them.

So, if it was true that he really got you that position then it could be a start to great opportunities. Smiling to yourself, you pulled your legs to the side of the sofa and walked towards the bedroom.

It was late, and you had work tomorrow. If Liam really did that for you, tou would be crazy to reject that offer.

But you know what is crazier? The fact that you walked to your bed with positive thoughts. Thoughts of how your life would change for the better. This job was a new start... But the start of your new hell.
