Corpse felt like absolute shit.

he laid in his bed, the light on his phone the only thing keeping him from being submerged in complete darkness in his room. his blinds were shut all the way to keep the nearing noon sun from entering his room. his door was closed and locked, his covers pulled up to his nose.

his phone dinged with a message. it was M/n. he never got texts anymore, and more rarely from M/n, so naturally, he got nervous as he clicked on it.

'hey, you havent replied to me on discord all day, everything okay?' one text read, then another one sent. 'can you call rn?'

corpse was hesitant to answer, but he could never leave his boyfriend on read, so he replied.

'sorry. sure.' he typed, readying himself to answer the call.

M/n call popped up on his screen barely a second after he sent the message—corpse almost felt bad for making him worry like that.

"love! you doing okay?" m/n genuine tone was prominent in his voice.

"just an off day." Corpse replied, shuffling around in his bed. "one of those days when every terrible emotion comes out for no reason, y'know?"

"'m really sorry." he said gently, "are you, uhm.. safe right now? where are you?"

"in my bed, you dont have to worry about that." corpse chuckled quietly—a chuckle that wasnt meant to portray happiness, but just to ease the calls tense feeling.

"i'm always worrying, love, you cant change that." m/n replied. "i was thinking of coming down today, you okay with that?"

"i'll probably be pretty lame right now, m/n"

"you know i love spending time with you no matter what mood you're in. was that you saying you dont want me to come down?"

"i.. i do really want you here." corpse quietly admitted, "i miss you."

"it's settled—i'll get a ride and i'll be over in a few hours." m/n spoke through a smile. "hopefully sykkuno is good with me coming over. eh, he probably wont care."

m/n was met with silence.

"f/m just told me he can drive me, said it has to be right now or he cant." shuffling was heard on m/n end, "are you good with me hanging up? or should i stay on call 'til i get there?"

"you can hang up, i might just have a nap while i wait."

"i'll tell him to speed, i'll get there as fast as possible." m/n walked away from the phone to grab his charger and a pair of extra clothes if he stayed the night, corpse could hear his footsteps as he walked back. "he said he's already on his way. okay, i'm gonna hang up now. i love you, boo." it was almost impossible for m/n voice not to go gentle and soft when telling corpse he loved him.

"love you too, m/n. be quick or i'll change my mind." m/n laughed quietly and got in a final 'bye,' before hanging up.

during the roadtrip there, m/n felt it would be good to get corpse out of the house. maybe just for a walk, or something. he had no ideas, so he asked f/m. f/m already knew about their relationship—it was difficult to hide anything from them, they definitely had eyes on the back of their head—so it wasnt hard to talk to talk to them about it.

at the mention of a traveling carnival that had just stopped where corpse was, m/n gasped in excitement.

"really?" excitement seeped through the word. "aw man, i dont know if he'd be willing to go to a whole carnival—that might stress him out a lot."
