I stared at him for a moment. His perfection. His eyes. His lips. His smile. Everything he was made of lured me to him.
Marcello caught my gaze and greeted it with a smile. He walked over and put his arm around me and pulled me close. As much as I would love to be in this moment, I couldn't kiss him in front of everyone. He pouted and let out a soft whine but did not try to change my mind. He sat down in the worn down leather love seat that had been hidden in the school's basement for over three years before they finally took it out. I just stared, and took it all in. This, standing in front of me, all mine.
"You done checking me out now?" He teased. I sat down right next to him and opened a book I had no interest in reading, I just wanted to look distracted.

"Hey, babe what time is it?" Marcello asks me. He motions for me to give him his phone but instead I groan in vain.
"Get it yourself..." I hiss. He chuckles as he climbs out of the pull-out stretch bed across the room and lies down next to me. He caresses my hair which makes me smile.
"Did you check what time it was yet?" I joke. He laughs quietly and pulls me close.
"I love you," he whispers in my ear. I nod. He kisses me lightly, with his sweet lips connected to mine.
"Where are you going?" He asks as I start to get up. "I'm not done with you yet," he says as he kisses me again. I chuckle, but I get up. I throw on a light pink cocktail dress and start to do my hair. He comes over and glues his eyes to mine.
"Hey beautiful, you think I look as good as you?" He teased.
"You are perfect," I smile and kiss him again. He swishes his hair from side, trying to see which looked better. I look at the time and see that its 9:47.
"Hey sweets, we're late. Gia will be waiting. Oh and my brother will too. Remember to tell him we slept in separate beds," I joke as I practically blast through the door. Marcello gets the car ready while he checks himself out in the car mirror. I laugh as I do the same and give him a light kiss on the cheek. When the car starts up, he holds my hand the whole way there, even though its sweaty and clammy.
"Kate. You're nervous," he says in a question sort of way. I gulp, it was because I knew my brother would find out we were in the same room, but nothing happened. Though, my brother wouldn't believe me. He stopped the car and looked at me.
"Keep looking at me," I whisper. He chuckles and pecks me on my cheek. I see TJ and Gia and my muscles tense up. I'm guessing Marcello noticed since he held onto my hand tighter.
"Keep holding that hand...you're getting there..." TJ threatens. Gia kicks his shin, which surprises me, since she usually baby's him,
"Don't listen to him. You guys look adorable together. Now come on, our table is waiting!" Gia squealed. She took TJ's hand and dragged him helplessly into the boat eatery.
As we walked in, I felt we were out of place since we were the only 17 year olds in Sauka Yama's, but it was our favorite place. A waiter escorted us to a lace embroidered table with two lilacs placed in the middle. It was cold. Really, really cold. Marcello must have noticed I was shivering because he wrapped his hoodie around me.
"You want something warm to drink? I think they have some mocha coffee. Here I'll ask, could w-" I cut him off before he could finish.
"No, I'm-I'm okay. Really. I'm fine," I snapped. I know he's just trying to be nice, but I can do things myself. I'm not a child. Gia and TJ stared a moment, confused.
"I'm sorry..." I whispered to Marcello when Gia and TJ looked away. "I'm tired...that's all. I'm just not feeling well." Marcello nodded his head. He didn't look at me though, he just stared through the window at the risen sun. I wonder what he is thinking...
"Do you want to go home?" He asked after he turned his phone off, still not making eye contact.
"Marcello..." I groaned. He stood up and walked out. Gia gives me a strange look, but I don't pay attention.
"Marcello. What the hell is wrong?" I ask. He shakes his head so violently, I'm afraid it will pop right off. He's about to cry, so I wrap him in a bear hug. "I'm here...I'm here..." I whisper. After about a minute, I turn to him. "What's wrong?" I ask again.
"Katie...you won't-"
"I will."
"My mom got in a car accident. All the way in Kansas. I can't see her. I don't even know of she's alive." His face is filled with pain and worry, which makes me feel hurt. We get into the car and I grab his hand and hold it as tight as possible.
