Relocation

Tk Strand found himself shocked. The man he loved so dearly, so wholeheartedly, had fallen in love with someone else.

This had cut him to the bone. He had seen only good things in him and wanted to give him the world but- he didn't feel the same. He felt stupid, and ashamed. He went back to his apartment and slammed his fist into the wall.

He felt the tears roll down his cheek and fell to his knees. "Stupid! Stupid, stupid, stupid. How could you be so damned stupid-?" He brought his knees to his chest and laid his head against his knees. "God, I wish I had noticed sooner. Maybe then this wouldn't hurt like it does."

He sighed and stood up, walking into the bathroom to the medicine cabinet. Despite everything telling him not to, he reached into the cabinet and grabbed the pain pills, pulling them out and taking the lid off.

He poured them into his hand and popped them into his mouth. It wasn't long before he found himself falling into the floor.

Tk opened his eyes and became dimly aware of the fact he was now throwing up on the wood floors of the apartment. Once he stopped he looked around wondering how the fuck he was alive. Then it occured to him, "dad?"

"Yea, its me son. What happened?"

He sat up and felt the tears start to fall again, "its Alex dad- he found someone else. A-a yoga instructor. Msybe if I wasn't so fucking dumb I'd have noticed before but-"

"Tk- you aren't dumb. It's not your fault. Ok? He decided he didn't want you and that's on him. You've just gotta let it go and move on, thats all you can do."

"Dad, I still have to see him at work- how the hell am I supposed to move on?"

Owen found himself thinking about this momentarily until he said, "We're going to relocate. Thats how. The Strands are going to california."

"What? California- dad thats so far-"

"It'll be worth it. I hear its beautiful there. Besides, they've got some great people there, Tk. I think it's worth it, what do you say?"

Tk bit the inside of his cheek, "I guess new scenery never hurts..."

"Great. So its settled then."

Within a matter of days they had everything packed and loaded into the car and they were on their way to California. It was a hell of a drive to get there, so they had days ahead of them where it would be just the two of them. And they were both grateful the time they had.
