As the sun rose over Auradon, the cerulean blues of King Benjamin Addams fluttered open, as he smiled, turning over in bed to admire the beauty that shared it with him.

His wife of four years, Evelyn Grimhilde, was asleep, facing him, slightly drooling. He chuckled, because she had always been a heavy sleeper.

She would only be woken up by the sound of her children, and that was what happened.

At exactly 8.30am sharp, the large mahogany doors of the master bedroom creaked open to reveal a six year old Maxwell James, behind him being his little brother of age 2, Radley Keane, who had only recently been transferred to a 'big boy bed', since he learnt how to climb out of his crib. Evie was sure Max helped him.

Upon seeing that their father was awake, Max giggled in excitement, little feet trudging towards Ben before pouncing in the middle of the bed. Radley followed suit soon after, just that he accidentally landed on his mother.

As Evie was shaken awake, a look of displeasure crossed her face but looking at her darling sons face washed it off completely, and in an instant, she was smiling, pulling both her sons into her arms, squeezing the life out of them with a hug. Radley squealed and Max struggled to escape, earning a laugh from Ben.

When the boys crawled over to Ben, Evie slipped off the bed, heading to the bathroom to wash up for the day, while still watching them as her husband brought out the tickle monster.

Max squealed and tucked himself into the covers, his golden curls going haywire in this frenzy. Ben picked Radley up, pretending to eat him as the little boy giggled.

Evie's smile never wavered as she watched this exchange.

Radley Keane Addams, her two year old son, the baby of the family, was growing up way too fast, closely resembling Max when he was little, with blue eyes and golden curls as well. He was a spright child, always giggling and happy go lucky, but he was going through his terrible twos, so he threw tantrums every now and then, which Evie and Ben tried their best to control. He was bright as well, and developed the fastest out of his siblings, crawling and talking at an early age.

He was born via surrogacy, since Ben refused to allow Evie to carry another child, but they both yearned for a son of their own. After gruelling selection, they had a villager woman in her late thirties to have him. It worked out fine, and the little prince was brought into the world, third in line for the Auradon Throne, with much admiration for his older brother, always following him around.

Max seemed to be fine with it, only getting a little annoyed sometimes, but then again, he had always been a very even boy, exactly like his father. He was responsible and protected his siblings, and at the same time, managing to be fun loving and smiley almost all the time. At a young age, he was already the golden boy of his class in school, all the little girls swooning and fighting over him. He seemed to enjoy the attention well enough. It made Evie giggle.

He was now 6, and suffice to say, didn't really remember Mal, his birth mother, but Evie was secretly glad for that, though she was ashamed of it. They would tell him one day, but not right now.

Evie's thoughts were interrupted by another little girl creeping into the room in a torpid state, rubbing her eyes, stuffed bunny in her arms. She hopped onto the bed, creeping into her father's arms.

Desiree Briar was an absolute stunner, with her dark blue pupils, accompanied by dark blue hair that was nearly brown, blessed with the beauty of her mother, where her smile could charm the most wicked of villains. She was a Daddy's Girl, and was all about the pink, prissy dresses with lace, along with tea parties with her best friends, Irene Creon, daughter of Megara and Hercules, Weila Montunui, daughter of Maui and Moana, and Aubrey Charming, the daughter of Audrey and Chad. She enjoyed the company of boys her age too, like Bruno Fitzherbert, son of Rapunzel and Eugene, along with Jackson Jafar, Jay and Lonnie's son and her own godbrother. That made Ben chuckle, though he was still fiercely protective of his little princess.

She didn't yet know about Doug, but both parents figured that they would tell her one day, when she was much older.

Evie was shaken from her reverie once more, as one of her children began to tug on her dark blue camisole nightgown.

It was Radley, yearning to be picked up, while Desiree was in Ben's arms. Max was already out the door, always the most independent. They headed to breakfast in such a way, anticipation waning in the air.

It was a special day, one the kids were extremely excited for. Evie had planned it a long time ago, a not-so-small get together for the Core Four and their family friends, well, with the exception of Mal.

Jay and Lonnie were invited, along with their children, 4 year old Jackson Shang and 2 year old Lilliana Jade.

Carlos and Jane were coming as well, with Jane coming out of recovery from delivering Jane and Carlos' first daughter, Emily De Vil.

Evie had invited a 26 year old Dizzy too, who was inviting her boyfriend, the son of Ariel and Eric, Enzo Atlan, and Freddie Facilier, her best friend and partner in crime.

Even Uma and Harry were invited, because they hadn't met in a long time. Both had always been closer to Mal than Evie, but the blue haired Queen decided to invite them anyway. Them, as well as their twin children, 6 year old Hayden and Harper Hook.

But Ben had a secret he was keeping. Maleficent had broken out of her glass cage a couple of days ago, and the guards were searching tirelessly for him. Evie was pregnant again, this time by accident, so he didn't want to alarm her.

After all, she was only in her first trimester, and was under strict instructions not to make any heavy movement. She was still rather weak, after all, but with right medical treatment, had been getting stronger.

So he kept quiet about the situation, not wishing to send the citizens of Auradon in a panic.

This was a day the children had been waiting for, excited to get to the beach and into the water, and he didn't want to ruin it for them. Besides, he figured that Maleficent would take a longer time to make a move. That was when they had prepared for Auradon to go on a lockdown.

//Scene Change//

"Bye!" A 4 year old Moxie waved to her classmates as she trudged on home, holding the rims of her purple backpack tightly, two golden pigtails flowing in the wind. She had mauve highlights in her platinum blonde hair, emerald eyes glistening in constant excitement.

It was a Saturday morning, which meant most children didn't have school, but her mother was working, so she went to daycare. She didn't mind. She was and had always been a happy go lucky child.

But she was excited to return home for her mother, because Mal had half days on weekends, which meant she could spend the rest of the day with her.

Speaking of the devil, someone with close semblance to her mother magically appeared at her side.

It was an old lady actually, crouched down like the Hunchback of Notre Dam, but she had an air of eeriness to her that made the little girl want to run.

It was too late, however, because they had made eye contact.

The old lady made her way over and Moxie, in her plain yellow tee and denim overall shorts, stood still on the road, petrified, because her mother had always taught her to respect and help the elderly, yet she was also instructed not to talk to strangers. See, that would be mighty confusing for a child.

Moxie inched a little closer to the old lady, weary but warming up a little, as the stranger smiled to reveal yellowed or blackened crooked teeth. The little girl was slightly repulsed, but didn't say much.

"Hello, Dear." The old lady cackled in a feign tone of endearment that made the daughter of Mal shudder.

"Hi." She replied, softly and a little unsure.

"Why so afraid, little girl?" The old lady tutted, inching closer to Moxie as the girl attempted to back away.

It was too late, however, because in an instant, the old lady grabbed Moxie with her bony fingers roughly and shoved her into a portal she didn't even know was there.
