IF THERE WAS SOMETHING THAT COULD'VE PREPARED Logan for the bomb that was about to be dropped on her this morning, she would've just stayed underneath the covers in ignorant bliss. She wouldn't have started her morning with the perfect skincare routine, a healthy breakfast, a jog that made her question her life and the cute outfit she planned coming into work today. Everything seemed to be going perfect this morning, which was unusual but she thought that the power of manifestation, from the TikTok tarot readers that promised something was coming in 9 hours was almost too good to be true. She didn't question it thought.
She didn't question when she received compliments from her fellow peers on the train that her choice of shoe selection for work was elite and that her curls looked extra bouncy today. She just relished in the life of compliments with a soft smile and thank you's as she went about her day. Now, she was walking into the office with a cupholder full of Starbucks in her hands and a warm smile on her features. She greeted her cubby buddies who perfected the habit of ignoring her and entered the elevator, trying to balance her work phone and coffee while she attempted to check on the agenda that would come with assisting her Boss. For two years, she had worked as an assistant to a successful music label, Aurora Records.
Originally hired as a contractor, she had agreed to be the personal assistance to the Princess who was under the process of inheriting the business. Leo Moon was a different sort of beast that she didn't know if she conquered, but she still went in with hopes of becoming permanent and a promotion. This job was just enough for her to make her rent and spoil herself on occasion. Stepping from the elevator, she heard a bit of commotion coming from the biggest room down the hallway, eyebrows furrowed but releasing their reaction as she walked in.
"You said that you would sweep that artist from underneath him!" Aecha said, raising a pen and tossing it to someone who she didn't recognize. His head had been lowered and for the moment, you could've sworn that the unknown individual who was standing across from her desk. The man didn't even bother to rebuttal when she sent a look in your direction, scanning Logan from head to toe with a look of pure disgust ridden on her features. "And you? I sent you a text asking to assist me to a label meeting at 4 am, where were you?" She asked, tilting her head.
Logan looked as confused as could be, going to do a fact check before she realized that she had left her Do Not Disturb on after snoozing an alarm last night. She gulped and had two decisions in the moment. She could lie about the notification and delete the message, but she looked to her in fright with several messages from her Boss requesting that she come in early. Logan wasn't even conscious during these hours and a simple text wouldn't have woke her up anyway.
"I apologize for that ma'am. It seems that I silenced my notifications for longer than intended," Logan said, placing her phone back in her pocket as she walked to her desk to try and relieve the situation with an offer of her favorite iced coffee. "I brought you-"
Logan gasped for air, the Frappuccino that she stopped to get this morning coating the bare parts of her body. Cold had to be the understatement, hands reaching to wipe the whip cream from her eyes as she stared at Aecha in disbelief. Granted, she had been a boss from Hell but to throw coffee? Logan looked down to her outfit, which was cuter than usual. It was now covered in $8.56 worth of coffee. "Lady Aecha!" The man from the side exclaimed as she stood there, looking to her with tears forming over her eyes.
"I don't care for your apologies or mistakes. You've been nothing but a plague to this company, tainting it with your image when you're around me," Aecha said, spitting with such venom that caused Logan to wince and lower her head as well. She had never seen her this mad. "Get out, worthless dirt."

"SHE DID WHAT?" Nayeon said, sitting across from her with a frown on her features. Logan had been at home, on the couch with her face buried in the plushies that she had. After what seemed to be hours of being in shock, she dialed her best friend and pushed her sulking onto her. She was angry now. Had to be. She dedicated two years of hard and consistent work with Aurora Music, just to be insulted and fired because of a bad mood. "She's Korean. Let me at her and I am so fucking serious!" Nayeon said, taking off her heels and going into her bad to change into something more comfortable.
"That's not even morally right," Logan said, shaking her head and reclining against the couch. Of course, she got the smell of coffee off of her, but it still ran wild in her mind. She needed to be worried about how this month's worth of rent would be covered and not fighting. "I have bigger things to worry about. Rent is coming up in 15 days and I have $400 to my name," Logan sighed, counting the ridges in the ceiling. Her mother warned her about going off on her own and moving into the city of LA, but she didn't listen.
She was younger with goals and ambitions that seemed to lead her no where. She loved the Arts, but after flunking out of college due to work and bills she felt a bit lost. Working underneath Aecha proved that she had some passion for managing those in music, but she didn't think to pursue that because her forever goal was assisting Aecha. "You can't let that stop you, Lo. You want to come work with me?" Nayeon said, taking the closest spot next to her on the couch and comforting her by running her fingers through her hair.
Logan snorted. "So that my mother can judge me for the rest of my life and make my middle failure? Do you know what Jessie is out there doing?" Logan stood from the couch, running her fingers through her curls as she shivered in pure fear. Her brother was a successful underground rapper and although it wasn't the route chosen from their mother, it still was enough to make bills. He was currently on tour opening for Tyler the Creator. Better than her, 100%.
"That's your issue. You're always comparing when you're full of greatness too," Nayeon said with a bit of a pout at her features. "No stripping though. Megan ran out of some bottle girls and we've been having trouble replacing them. You make about as much money as me with tipping including."
Logan knew that Nayeon was good for making over 20 grand a week due to how talented she was, but she had doubt that she would even be touching those numbers. She flared her nostrils in frustration before she picked up the phone to scroll and call Jessie. Hell, maybe he needed an assistant.
"Logan Reese!" Nayeon said, springing from the couch and grabbing the phone from her hands. She ended the call and looked to her with a crazed expression. "I'm going to tell Megan that you accepted the job. I'll help you with wardrobe over the weekend and cover four months of rent just in case you decide that you hate it."
"I can't let you take care of me," Logan said, chewing the inside of her lip and turning to look out the window. She was however thankful that Nayeon saved her from the embarrassment of begging from her younger sibling. She had no rebuttal after the uncomfortable silence, looking to Nayeon who seemed determined to make sure that she had her back. "Fine. I'm comfortable in a XXL most of the times. When do I start?"
And all Nayeon could do was smile.
