Five - A Little Spark of Interest

Nickel's POV:

That damned Balloon. I'm gonna kill him.

HE DOESN'T HAVE THE RIGHT TO BOSS ME AROUND LIKE THAT!
NONETHELESS THROW ME INTO A GOSH DARN BUSH!

Ugh. He's SO ANNOYING, with his squeaky voice and manipulative personality.

When is he gonna drop the act!? WE ALL KNOW HE DIDN'T CHANGE! HE NEVER. WILL.

WHO DOES HE THINK HE IS TELLING ME TO SHUT UP!? HE CAN'T MANIPULATE ME EASILY!

Balloon's POV:

Heh, Nickel's even angrier at me now.. I didn't think that could be possible..

But, at least I did what Suitcase recommended me to do: stand up for myself.

Gosh, it's hard to do... especially to someone like Nickel. But... when he was staring at me earlier... he didn't look... as mad..? He didn't look annoyed or anything. But I should probably still lay low. God knows what he can do.

But, the first challenge is starting. I was put on the blue team, along with... oh. Nickel. GREAT! Just great. But, there was this really nice lady, a few years older than us. She loved making us food, hehe. She absolutely loved making those... thingies.. hors d'ouevres what she called them, or whatever. There was also this lifeguard dude. He made us lose! He wasn't able to sink while everybody else already had.

There was also this really pessimistic navy blue person. He was always talking about how nothing mattered and stuff. He wasn't doing anything to help in the first challenge, so I decided to vote him off. I then sat down on the grass, just cooling down for a second, hoping people in my team thought the same and didn't vote for me..

I soon saw someone walking towards me, and then he grabbed me by my shoulders. It was... Nickel..? Not him again..

No POV:

Nickel looked at Balloon.

"YOU DIDN'T VOTE FOR ME, RIGHT!?" He said gripping onto Balloons shoulders.

"What-? No! I didn't!" Balloon says to Nickel.

Balloon and Nickel started arguing for about 3 minutes about whether Balloon was lying about not voting for Nickel.

After a while, Nickel sat next to Balloon and calmly said, "And you're SURE you voted for Blueberry. Not me, right?"

Balloon rolled his eyes. "Yes, Nickel. I'm sure."

Balloon decided it would be funny to confuse Nickel a little.

"Are you sure you didn't vote for yourself? Hm?" Balloon said with a goofy (ahh .,.) smile near the end of his sentence.

Nickel rolled his eyes. "Oh, what, and pull a Balloon? HAH! Yeah, no. Not likely" he said.

Balloon smiled a little, being glad that him and Nickel were actually getting along a little.

He was about to say something to insult Nickel back, but then Tea Kettle walked up to them.

"Hi boys! Hungry for any hors d'ouevres?" Tea Kettle said.

"Oh, uh.. that's very nice Tea Kettle, but uhm.... maybe later?" Balloon said, trying to be polite. 

"Yeah, we'll get to them in a minute." Nickel said sarcastically. 

"Oh, uhh... sure thing, hun" Tea Kettle said. 

Balloon and Nickel started whispering. 

Balloon's POV: 

"She really likes acting like a grandma, huh?" I say to Nickel. 

"Yeah, she's pretty annoying. She can't leave us alone, can sh-" 

Nickel gets cut off by Tea Kettle about 2 seconds later. 

"Youuuu better eat them now..!!! They'll all be gone!" She says. 

I soon get up and walk away slowly. I didn't really want to deal with this. 

Nickel soon followed as she began walking away with the hors d'ouevres in her hands. 

"So.. uh.. weird, huh?" I say to Nickel. 

Nickel then scoffs. "Don't talk to me." He then walked past me like nothing happened. 

I sighed quietly. He's just going to pretend like nothing happened. 

I look at him walking away in the distance, all sluggish and grumpy. We were just starting to get along. What happened...? 

Nickel's POV: 

Nope, nope, nope, nope, NOPE!!! I AM NOT GOING TO GET ALONG WITH BALLOON! STOP IT! 

I CAN'T BELIEVE I WAS TALKING TO HIM! LAUGHING EVEN!

STUPID, STUPID, STUPID, STUPID, STUPID!!!

UGH!! But.. why am I starting to feel more comfortable around him? Disgusting. I hate the feeling. I'm not supposed to. 

Puh-leese. Balloon isn't worth my time. He isn't worth being comfortable around. He isn't worth... loving...
