It has been a few weeks since the explosion in the city, and everyone devised a plan, following a black-haired man named Shane to a quarry. My brother and I chose to venture into Atlanta to search for anything of use. Shane concurred, given that our supplies were dwindling—indeed, almost everything was lost except for a few items I had secreted away, such as my toothpaste and deodorant. I entered the tent and retrieved them.

I grabbed my bag, stuffed with knives, pistols, and axes, along with some water and bars, just in case. After placing my dad's gun in the back and another up front, I seized my crossbow and exited the tent to meet my brother by the car. We tossed our bags in the back and started the engine, waiting for Glenn. Rogue, hearing the car, quickly jumped in, not wanting to be left behind. I shook my head at him and lit a cigarette, leaning against my jeep while waiting for Glenn to finish gathering his things. "He takes too long," I whispered to my brother, who just smirked. "Relax sis, it's only been 5 minutes," he replied. I scoffed and surveyed the camp, where everyone was contributing in their own way. Carl and Sophia were doing schoolwork. Moments later, Glenn approached with his bag. "You ready, boys?" I asked. "Heck yeah, let's get going," he replied. My brother chimed in, "Let's hit the road, sis. I want to be back in time for dinner," making me smile and Rogue bark in agreement.

I chuckled as the three of us climbed into the vehicle. Donning my sunglasses, I lit a cigarette and apologized to Glenn for being cramped in the back with Rogue. "It's no worries," Glenn replied, petting Rogue, which brought a smile to my face. I then put the car in gear, pulled away from the camp, and headed into the city. It was around 9 am when we arrived, parking the car discreetly under a bridge with few walkers around. We exited and sneaked into the city, sticking to the shadows and navigating through the alleyways. I exchanged nods with Glenn and Eric, signaling that our first task was to get medicine. As we dashed down the alley, dispatching any walkers we encountered, we reached the pharmacy. I knocked on the window, checking for walkers. Seeing none, I proceeded to pick the lock on the door.

"Where did you learn how to do that?" Glenn whispered. I glanced back at him before returning my attention to the task at hand. "A friend taught me to be safe when everything fell apart," I replied. With a click, the lock gave way, and the door swung open. I whistled softly for Rogue to double-check the store. His bark was low, not too loud. I nodded in approval, then signaled to Glenn and Eric, and we entered. We hastily collected various medical supplies—medicines, bandages, wraps, needles, and more. Having secured a substantial stash of meds, we turned our attention to food. Leaving the medical building, we stealthily made our way to the food supply, two buildings down but swarming with walkers. We circumvented the medical building, climbed the ladder on its side, and leapt from rooftop to rooftop. The buildings were close enough to make the jumps. Reaching the top of the food building, we descended the stairs, my crossbow at the ready in case of walkers. I clicked on the flashlight I had brought along, holding it in my mouth to keep my hands free. The ground floor was undisturbed. Glenn and Eric nodded at me, and we began gathering canned goods—I even snagged a bag of gummy worms. All was going well until a snarl pierced the silence. I spun around to see about five walkers charging at us. I pushed Glenn towards the stairs, with Eric and Rogue close behind. We sprinted up the stairs. "You need to get to the other building quickly, Glenn. We'll hold the door," I instructed. He nodded and made the leap to safety. I signaled Rogue to follow, ensuring they were secure. "Isn't this fun, sis?" Eric joked, eliciting a smile from me. "Oh yes, barricading a door against walkers is a blast," I said, giggling. We braced the door, then on a count of three, we both nodded, ready for what was next. We broke away from the door, dashing to the building's edge before leaping across. My body soared through the air until landing on solid ground. My brother, however, landed on the edge, his foot slipping, causing him to cling to the side. Panic surged through me as I ran to his aid. "Hold tight, Eric, give me your hand," I urged, leaning over to reach for him. He grasped my hand as I tried to pull him up. "Glenn, help me!" I cried out in panic. "Let me go, sis," he pleaded, but I refused. "No, I'm not letting go. I won't lose you too," I insisted, struggling to pull him up, seizing his other hand. "Glenn!" I screamed as his hands began to slip from my grip. "Please don't," I begged, trying to strengthen my hold. Just as the last hand started to slip, Glenn rushed over and together we pulled him up. Once Eric was safe, I punched him hard in the arm. "Never do that again," I scolded, then embraced him tightly. He just laughed and returned the hug.

Once we were safely across, our feet swiftly carried us down the ladder with Rogue on my shoulders. Reaching the bottom, I set Rogue down, exhaling under his weight, my arms still shaking from the near fall. "Got a lot of strength," Glenn remarked, making me smirk. "You tell me," I replied with a laugh. "Gotta be quicker than that, sis," Eric teased. I scoffed, "Whatever," prompting laughter from the group. We scanned the area before dashing back to the car. Arriving at the vehicle, we shared a laugh, thrilled by the adventure. I couldn't resist pulling Glenn into a hug, which he returned warmly. My brother just laughed, "Let's get the hell out of here," I declared, chuckling. They both nodded, still laughing, and climbed in. I opened the back door for Rogue, secured him, then jumped into the driver's seat, donning my sunglasses and lighting a cigarette. We left the parking lot and headed back to camp. It was around 1 pm when we arrived; everyone gathered, curious about our delay. I dropped the two bags on the ground; Shane rifled through them and nodded in approval. "Nice haul you all got," he said. I nodded in agreement, "Yeah, things went smoothly," and walked off to my tent, tossing my gear onto my sleeping bag and removing my backpack.

Exhausted from the trip, I lay in my tent. I glanced around for my brother, but my fatigue made me indifferent. Feeling fur snuggle against me brought a smile to my face. Once we were both settled comfortably, we slept peacefully for a few hours.
