A little background: Stan is your mom's friend's son. Your guy's mom always compared you guys to siblings because you used to spend so much time at his house. Your single mother is on business trips almost constantly. You used to hang out with the losers all the time as a kid, you'd get invited to their birthdays and sleepovers (you'd always turn down sleepovers because you were too scared to be away from home) until you finally found friends in your own grade (which was only one year below the losers). Your best friend is a girl named Gretta Keene, she seems to have shown you the path to popularity, which your old friends lack severely.
