It's been two weeks since Jack broke into my bedroom. Haley and I have tanned our lives away on the beach and everytime I walked down the boardwalk I would slip a peak over to his house. No cars have been in the driveway and all the lights are off.

Did he go on vacation? Maybe he'll stay there. Somewhere far far away from here so there'll be no more weird touchy moments or odd comments from him.

"Hey dad," I walk into the kitchen heading straight for the fridge. The sun is beaming through the large window's causing the kitchen to be very bright.

"Hey," My dad gets up from his spot at the marble island and grabs a banana from the fruit basket.

"What are you working on?" I pour the orange juice from the fridge into a glass cup and take a sip.

"Too many cases is what I'm working on. Honestly I need a vacation. I move here to the beach, but I've yet to step outside and enjoy it," He rubs a palm down his face.

"So how serious is this work on a scale from 1-10?" I finish off my drink and clean the glass in the sink.

"Maybe a solid 7.5," He closes his laptop.

"So it's not a 10. Go out to the beach with me. It doesn't have to be for a while just at-least 30 minutes," I give him a hopeful smile.

My father and I never really had the best relationship and I can tell he feels bad about it. With my mom not really being around anymore I think my dad feels more free.

"Fine, i'll be ready in an hour. I have to call someone first," He grabs his stuff and exits the kitchen heading towards his office.

Whenever he says 1 hours it really means 2. I'm okay with that though.

Drying off the glass I put it back in the cabinet. I walk through the long hallway and upstairs back into my room.

Shutting the door behind me I pad my way back into my bed. I pull my soft Vera Bradley blanket under chin, and reach for my laptop.

Clicking on YouTube I decide to watch Sam and Colby.

Colby is hot.

The sand is burning hot today. You know that walk from the wooden pier to the shoreline. Not just any walk, but the one from hell.

I feel like the grinch who stole Christmas walking along the sand. You know how the grinch does his tip toe creeping walk? Thats what I look like.

I throw my towel down nice and neat and immediately sit down on it. The sun is beaming down on my skin causing a colorful hue on my skin.

Can't believe I'm saying it, but I really like the beach. It makes me feel good.

"Aren't you so proud of me?" I turn around to see my dad carrying his towel.

"You actually put down your work for five minutes," I laugh.

"That I did," He lays out his towel and grabs the sunscreen out of my tote bag.

"Are you excited to go to school?" He finished applying the coat of sunblock and hands it to me.

"Are you joking?" I stare at him like he's an idiot.

"No Jess. School starts in two weeks. It's about time you start finding friends, so you'll have someone to talk to," He says.

"I do have friends. I have Haley," I pour a small amount of sunblock in my hand and apply it to my arms only. I need my legs to be tan.

"Haley is one person. Find more," He walks away towards the water.
