Fangs. Shouting. Claws tearing through metal. Blood. Screeching and roars. The Blazer stirred on her bedding, claws out and digging into the floor as the images continued. Flashbacks of battle, no it was more than battle. War. Gasping as she came awake as if she was being drowned by her thoughts alone. Her eyes darted around in panic, and soon her body calmed as she learned she was alone in the barn, even the doors were shut. Her cabin ached from the way she awoke, and with a groan she slowly stood up. Nudging the door open she was greeted to the green fields and tanning tree line. The squeak and creak of the barn door opening startled her into noticing the area was silent and still. Jaslo's gut twisted in panic, not even the usual animals were making noise. She lunged over the fence and out into the property trying to find anything of any answer.
Blood.
Jaslo slammed to a stop, almost digging her fangs into the ground as she curled to halt in her tracks. Sniffing the air the scent was near, and as she turned her eyes landed on the source. Shadow, the horse, lay in the dirt missing the hind half. All around were parts of every animal from the property, and the trail of death led right to the house. The Blazer didn't stall and bolted right towards the house, quickly finding the trail of the family truck having left in a hurry with large tracks following. A Hound's tracks were one she knew too well, and she galloped on her tires after in panic. It didn't matter who saw her, this was a matter of life and death. Her lungs burned, she huffed with each stride as she picked up speed down the dirt road.
Faster!
With fangs bared and a deep growl, she pushed herself as far as she could go. The scent of the hound and blood was not getting much stronger, she was losing the trail if anything. Jaslo shook her front, calling out with the angriest neigh a beast like her could manage as her engine fired up fully for the first time in a long while. With a slight bounce, all her tires made contact with the dirt before the black SUV rocketed off. Now the trail was picking up, hitting paved road but doubling back and hitting a very different rough road heading towards the mountains. Why was it always the damn mountains?
"THAT THING IS STILL ON US!" Watson clinging to the sides of the truck bed, bracing just barely for every swing and bump they hit. Alex was reaching through the back cab window, death grip on his arm with her legs pressed against the inside of the cab to her best ability. A silver beastly truck hybrid was in full run behind the truck, mouth open and still stained with blood as it got closer. The truck lurched and put ground between the group and the beast with a roar of an open throttle.
"I can't keep this up! We're getting too hot and low on fuel!" Levi pulled the wheel, swinging the truck around a tight bend and lurching up the next hill.
"We don't have much of a choice!" Watson shouted back, seeing the Hound keep its footing on the soft dirt and follow.
"How long can it RUN?!" Alex shouted in fear with a bit of annoyance. The group all went silent once the old truck's engine sputtered. The backfire made them all go cold, wasting no time but to scramble into the cab through the back window. Levi pulled into a lower gear, punching the wheel in anger as the beast quickly came upon them.
"NONONONONO!" Levi glanced into the mirror, seeing the towering beast almost smirk as it sprinted for them.
"Oh fuck," Watson breathed out, turning to put himself over Alex in an effort to brace for what was to come. The Hound slid, panting hard as it circled the now sputtering truck as it crawled to a stop. Levi looked at its massive face as it licked over its maw with a clicking growl. The beast nudged the truck, making it sway and the three inside scream. As quickly as it seemed to have the drive to kill, it stopped and straightened out to look back the way they came. The sound of an engine neared, and quickly. The Hound tilted its head, snorting loudly and earned the attention of all humans. Alex was the first to look back and see what the hound was so interested in; a very angry and gaining black box.
"No way," she whispered, getting Watson and Levi to look back as well. The Hound stepped over the truck, head lowered as it began to investigate the approaching box.
"FUCK YOU!" Jaslo launched into the air, slamming face-first into the Hound and sending both tumbling. She quickly got to her tires, snarling with eyes burning amber and a rev of her engine. Before the hound stood back up, she was on it again, digging her claws and fangs deep and pulling it away from the truck.
"Levi! Get this hunk of junk moving NOW! I know ah distraction when I see one!" Watson ordered, and Levi quickly leaped out the vehicle and almost ripped the hood up to start trying to get the engine back running. Alex watched in horror as her friend was now fighting for all their lives against this beast. She gasped as the Hound bit down on the Blazer by the roof and threw her into the vegetation, followed by a tense moment of silence. The Hound huffed before turning towards the group in their truck and taking a step.
"Oh fuck," Levi stated as he made eye contact with the creature.
