His feeble heart wasn’t able to take in the sight of the charming traveler smiling at every delicacy she came across, or whenever she looked at siblings being together with sad eyes then laughing along whenever they made up after what could possibly be a sibling fight or just having fun with each other. She was lovely to his eyes. And he knew he wasn’t the only one to be adoring her, since he noticed many people absorbing her with the same admiration, regardless of the gender. He was amused with how many pursued after her, although he admitted this fact quite quickly.

Lumine had noticed how Dainsleif looked at her whenever she looked at something she liked and called it lovely, him nodding in agreement with his eyes still at her. She wanted to push down this increase in hope. She never thought she’d go this weak for love. She who fought the Fatui, easily defeating even a Fatui Harbinger, she who always emerged victorious whenever she fought a duel. And now she was fiercely loving a man she had just met few months ago, her thoughts escalating to higher levels as she felt closer to him. She suddenly thought of her brother, to tell him that she had fallen in love with someone he traveled the nations. At the sight of the Mingxiao Lanterns decorating the night sky along with the stars, she wished for the happiness of her close ones, and those who had found it to remain that way.

The festival was soon humming its last minutes before everyone retired to their homes, the people still visiting the stalls a huge number. Maybe no one wanted this day to end. It was a day so joyous that even the sandy and stony wind that blew seemed to be weeping. Lumine turned to look at Dain, who had his mask of iciness back up again. She sighed internally, wanting to never let go of him, to drag him into the closest inn and ask him to make a mess out of her just for tonight, but she understood that in doing so, it would ruin everything they had built up till now. So she made up her mind to wait for him, all the while trying to break through his impregnable wall. “I-I guess we part here.” Her desires got the better of her, causing her to stammer.
He hummed.
“See you soon, Dain.”  She flashed a smile that quite didn’t reach her eyes, but he brushed it off as just mere disappointment of the festival being over. “Till we meet again.” He turned, soon vanishing amongst the crowd that lingered on around the bridge connecting the harbor and the stone forests.
