The man with sky-blue eyes was contemplating, whether it was okay to just let her into his heart. To let her absolutely shatter that wall he took years building, just hug her, and lift her around, and share passionate kisses, a deeper part of him screaming in pleasure at the mere thought of their lips touching. He was getting sick of himself for feeling down when the woman so obviously showed how much she wanted to be in his embrace. But he always brushed it off as mere coincidence, since he felt he didn't deserve to feel such pleasures. What could a sinner like him possibly do? He had left his nation to die in flames. His immortal pain tore him into pieces, anguishing him, reminding him of what he was. It had been too long he felt someone's warmth, but he always knew that he didn't have the right to wish for calmness in his heart. Still, he wished to just nuzzle up against her and sleep for long hours, since her presence eased the pain a lot. He was afraid of himself for letting her get so close to him, almost bursting to tears once when she had told that she'd always be there for him.
He didn't care that he had exposed his vulnerability to her, baffled at the fact that he trusted her enough that she wouldn't look at him with disgust or condescension. The purity of her soul had him always breaking down internally whenever they met. He couldn't believe how different he felt after feeling these feelings, but the pain escalated as he got more anxious. To hell with this curse, he thought. He knew entrusting himself to someone this time wouldn't be so bad, and if it did turn out bad, he'd live on loving her, since he was aware that this love would be an ever-lasting one, and a part of him felt that his fears would be soothed when he'd be resting in her warmth, the fact that there lived a gorgeous woman who strongly loved him once would allow him to live even further into the years of his never-ending life.
Yet, he hadn't known how to express this, since the millimeter distance between them proved to be the line that had invisibly been drawn. So if he crossed this line, either a heart would be broken or that it wouldn't just end with a kiss, as he hotly desired her during the nights, her face becoming more and more kissable with the days, the restlessness of wanting her in his arms irresistible enough to fly out of his rooms and give her a kiss so passionate she'd be panting and would finally let herself cross that line.
Although Lumine was gaining the confidence to swoon him, which was visible from his reactions, she was still very much scared to confess to him, and the pain that flashed on his face from time to time had stopped her from holding his hand. She'd always failed to, since whenever she tried to, either some idiot would push her, ruining the mood, or when their fingers had almost touched, her stupid floating companion would always interrupt, as if sensing that what she was trying to change was not just the distance between them, but also the relationship they had built. She'd almost burn with jealousy to see other couples getting handsy back in some alley, since she too wanted the deepest parts of her to be explored, by what she seemed to have learned from Zhongli, what the people called "first love". With how much she felt attached to the former knight captain, she came to understand that this man would be her first and her last, for even the people she tried to love left her for her adventurous nature, and that she'd never meet a man who understood her pains like he did.
They both made up their mind, that they'd confide in the other about their fears, and that establishing something to the blurred line between them would finally give way to their intense feelings.
