3rd pov

After rimuru witnessed Asuri being smart he was contemplating whether he should take him as his assistant 'i was thinking of shion as my assistant but after asuri proved worthy of being my assistant....' rimuru thought trying to think of an idea when suddenly 'Ah! I know! How about a competition for assistant position?'
'Though im not sure whether asuri would accept given his lazy nature' i guess i'll just have to bribe him with

He turns away to walk up a stage in the middle of the town, slowly stepping up the stairs at the side, walking up to the podium in the middle.

The goblins wolves and orcs and kijin and asuri immedietly went to the stage because of rimuru's presence and immedietly began whispering except asuri and the kijins to eachother wondering what rimuru's reason for going to the announcement stage

"Thats good!" "Anyway im here to announce an competition for a position as my assistant!" Everyone immedietly went gasp and ooooooh and rimuru continued "it'll contain a written exam and duels blah blah" and everyone got nervous except asuri who was still not that interested amd wasnt planning on joining if only he knew

Anyway back to the story

And rimuru continued "and whoever is 2nd place gets another smaller position as an army lieutenant!" And everyone got excited and ooooooooohhh were heard all around the plaza and everyone immediately went to sign up

A day later

Rimuru walked to asuri's house and knocked on the door and waited for asuri to open the door and after some time asuri opened the door "who is it- oh rimuru sama why are you here?" "Im here to tell you that i want you to join the competition to become my secretary" "no" "i expected you to say that so i brought preparations " he snapped his fingers and cake immediately appeared from predators stomach and asuri's eyes immediately lit up "alright i'll join the competition" immediately getting the cake and storing it in the kitchen and eating some of the cake "Great! I'll see you next week then!"

A week later

The day of the competition came and all the competitors came to a special building built by rimuru and the orcs and hobgoblins specifically for special events like this and after everyone arrived rimuru went to the podium and spoke "hello everyone! Welcome to the competition for the position of assistant!" everyone was silently listening and asuri was weirdly being stoic and proper for once how weird...
"The first test will be the written test if you are caught cheating you will be disqualified so please do not cheat in case you are wondering about the rules and regulations here are some scrolls to help you understand the rules"

Timeskip

after they read the rules and about to do the written test. Everyone especially the orcs excluding some smart ones were nervous because they didn't study enough and didn't know a lot of the answers so they resorted to cheating discreetly of course and as you probably expected asuri didn't cheat and answered perfectly in 15 minutes

Timeskip to the results cause this is boring

"Here are the results" the proctor said
Asuri kiyoko : 100
Shion : 92
Random goblin : 78
Blah blah : 67
Blah blah : 69
And so on
asuri won
The next test were easy him and shion were always second and first place respectively and after the second to last test then came the final one the duels

After all the other matches the last one was the last one

The two people that had been dominating the whole competition since the beginning

The referee announced
And shion immediately rushed asuri with her great-sword and slashed horizontally and asuri jumped back used Pyro steps [lv.9] to distance himself from her and and powered the flame from pyro steps with tornado vortex and made a fire tornado and shion immediately dashed to the side and slashed vertically with intent to cut asuri in half but asuri blocked with ryu and redirected her sword and kicked her on her side and she flew back across the tree's but she was able to stop her momentum by stabbing her greatsword to the ground but as she was about to stand up she had to block a Water Dragon [ lv. 10] with her sword she was barely able to hold on but she still managed to redirect it to asuri who immediately canceled the spell and dashed straight to shion with his right hand extended with the intention to slash at shion staright in the nose to quickly knock her out but she blocks and throws a punch and asuri moves his head to the left and kicked shion's arms to launch himself backwards and dashes again to kick shion but she blocks and grabs his leg and spins him around but asuri manages to catch himself and talk "i guess I enjoyed this battle but... Deaths shadow [ lv. 10] his eyes glowed purple with chains behind his eyes glowed purple with chains behind him and looking at the intimidated shion "as long as you have a shadow its my win(whiskers:bold and italic means voice change or skill or a note from bread/shen or from me k?) and the chains went to her and wrapped her up but didn't drag her to the shadows like how it was intended cause asuri didn't want her to die
"A-asuri Wins!"  the referee announced spectacled by the amazing battle he just witnessed
"Asuri wins this competition and the position!"

Timeskip

Rimuru in the podium announces asuri in the public podium as his assistant

Yet another timeskip

In the office of rimuru the kijins  rigurd and asuri are talking while shuna gave his uniform
His uniform is basically diablos clothes but the buttons are closed
But something everyone noticed was that asuri was awfully silent and stoic like a different person was in his body
But people were not that pushy about it and didn't mind it

Timeskip to a few days
In the office of rimuru

Rimuru is currently doing paperwork
With asuri by his side with his new stoic face rimuru was quite weirded out by asuri's sudden change of personality but he was alot easier to control and manage so he didn't complaining that much "rimuru sama" "hm?" Rimuru hummed "do you need any help with your paperwork?" Asuri asked stoically "hmm yeah actually this are too much that i can do so I'd appreciate your help!" "Hai rimuru sama~" asuri said in a slight flirtatious voice which made rimuru blush but he turned the other way to hide the blush "b-baka!" Rimuru exclaimed embarrassed but asuri only chuckled and smiled with his eyes closed giving rimuru an enchanting moment the moonlight shing through the curtains only enhanced his looks making him look like a heavenly being that everyone should pray to and believe in

after that the night was filled with a comfortable silence with rimuru and asuri doing paperwork

Hello everyone its been awhile since we've updated this story hasn't it? Yes i know alot of people probably have been waiting for an update for 2 months but shen/bread's incompetence ( no offense ) made it hard to update so I apologize for the both of our incompetence and we plan on making it up to you guys by uploading more frequently though i dont know how frequently so please dont expect every day uploads as that will make us burn out and thank you for reading this long ending words
