My Secret Wife

Chapter 3

Heartbeat Hospital

" Ma'am please calm down! ! , said nurse to the perplexed woman.

" Here, please have some water ", nurse again requested the lady to calm down.

She breathed hard, while shaking her head, nodding in no, loosing her composure she shouted and asked for her husband , " No- just tell me where is he, I want to meet him, I want to see him?"

Hearing the woman's shout the people in waiting room got startled and looked in their direction and even a few doctors came to look into the scene.

One of the doctors asked the nurse what happened?

" She is  wife of Cabir Dhawan, the one related to car accident but as he's still in the OT we can't really tell if he's fine or not, but she started hyperventilating after she hearing it.", replied the nurse still baffled with the scenario unfolding.

Hearing this Nandini decided to help the poor woman, and came forward to keep a comforting hand on her shoulder, and said, " Ma'am please calm down, it's not good for your health. Think about your child please. "

Listening this the woman looked down at her 8th month pregnant belly, as if just remembering that she isn't alone, she has a person inside of her. While caressing it, she murmured to herself,   "Not- Nothing will happen to your papa, everything will be fine.. HE WILL BE FINE, THEY'LL BE FINE"

Saying this she turned towards Nandini to assure herself and asked sighing , "Everything will be fine right? "

Seeing her calming down a little Nandini replied with a firm nod, "Have faith on God."

After that Nandini said nothing, but listening her the lady thought to keep faith in her Matarani, she'll never do something wrong with her. Nandini made her sit on one of the chairs in the waiting room and send everyone back to their work.

A while later the pregnant lady inquired from Nandini, seeing her in white doctor's coat, " Can you please ask your fellow doctors who are treating him right now?"

Seeing that the lady has calmed herself, Nandini decided to take her to the waiting area outside of OT, and enquire about her husband's ongoing treatment.

Settling her down outside on one of the waiting chairs, Nandini went inside the OT's corridor, where many doors to different OTs were and asked one nurse going inside of OT-3 where the lady's husband was, about the patient and his treatment.

" It's not looking too good .", Nurse replied in a hurry and ran inside the OT with the blood, maybe for transfusion.

Nandini went outside and sat besides the lady thinking how to tell this to her. Gathering some courage Nandini looked towards the lady to tell her about it to see her looking in her direction with eager eyes but looking at her awaiting eyes she couldn't and looked away.

The lady understood what must be the case and started praying to her Matarani.

Nandini also prayed to her aayiappa to save the man inside and just sat their giving her support to the lady, which the lady desperately needed at the moment.

After an hour

" Dr. Murty- Dr. Murty, your patient, he's going in shock", told resident Abhay to Nandini, panting due to running.

Hearing him, Nandini ran towards the ICU UNIT, where her patient lay for observation after his operation.

After stabilizing the patient, Nandini moved out of the OT and moved towards her cabin to relax after a hectic day in the hospital. But then decided to meet the lady first and inquire about her husband.

Reaching towards OT 3, where the patient, namely Cabir Dhawan, a member of FAB 5, drummer of the group, known as the prankster , was getting treated, she saw two more people sitting beside the lady. Seeing the lady with her family Nandini decided not to interfere and turned around to back to her cabin to relax a little.

" Should I call and ask?" Nandini murmured to herself.

' No-no, it'll be weird, if I'll just ask like that to Dr. Mehra then he'll ask then what will I say ', she thought to herself.

And anyways, he was not that serious, he'll be fine. After all he's the Manik Malhotra, ohh what he used to say, " Nothing can harm me, only I am capable of harming others." She said in a heavy voice as if to mimic him .

' Umm, anyways I don't care. Who's he to me anyways.' , she said to herself as to calm herself down.

Signing, she closed her eyes and once again prayed to her aayiappa for his safety.

She shook her head to stop thinking about him and decided to visit her patients, to clear her head once again from thoughts of him .
