See You Soon

"Mom, what would you do if your close friend liked your crush?" I asked her, while putting my things in the truck.
She shrugs awkwardly with a smirk.

"I don't know. I'd turn it into a friendly battle, whoever wins his heart first I guess." She giggled.

I liked that idea. But then, Faye would be upset I lied about not liking him.

I laughed at my moms answer.

Kat was at the doorway in her pajama's. She had to finish her college studies before attending the fraternity.

I gave her a big hug.

"See you soon, sis." We hugged for a while.

"Give Nash a kiss for me." She whispered in my ear.
"And, you and Hayes better be together when I get there. Stop being a coward." She giggled in my ear. I just look at her and shake my head laughing.

"Bye, girl." I laugh.

Dad was away at war so he couldn't see me off. I was sad about it but this wouldn't be the first time.

Mom stayed strong, as usual, not even shedding a tear. She said she promised us she'd never let us see her cry. I can honestly count on one hand how many times she's cried.

One...two...three...four.

All for the same reason, Dad was leaving.

"Okay baby, have fun. Call me as soon as you get there!" She said as I took my steps away from her to finally freedom.

Across the way, I spotted Faye and Destiny waiting for me. I literally dropped my bag to hug her. God, I've missed her.

"I've missed you." I grinned.

"Same." She says as if I were choking her.

A half hour later we were finally settled in in the plane.

The plane lady announced to us safety and rules and told us to enjoy the flight, with Faye whispering, "Don't tell me what to do." Loud enough for only Destiny and I to hear it.

She must've heard it because the lady looked at three of us, rose her eyebrow and poked the inside of her cheek with her tongue. I quickly stopped laughing. I was not getting kicked off this plane.

The couple of hours long ride finally came to a stop. Destiny was exhausted from the jet lag. She had to fly from Florida to Los Angeles and Los Angeles to Lake Tahoe California.

I hated airports. It was a long, tiring process. It was noisy, crowded and unorganized.

Through a thick crowd of people, there was a man with a sign that read Kaila Monroe, Destiny Joyce and Jennifaye Austin.

I pointed to the sign to give the girls a head up on which direction we were going in. They followed closely behind me.

When we reached the sign, the big guy stepped aside revealing a smaller, lanky guy. He had put on a couple of pounds and had dark brown hair with a bald spot in the front. He had big green eyes and small pink lips. He was dressed in a suit.

"Hello, Viners." He spoke with a silly, Australian voice.

"Hello, there." I smile kindly, trying to prevent myself from laughing.

"I am one half of the head counselor of Viners Fraternity. Remember me?" He asked.

I just looked at him with my eyebrows raised waiting for him to tell me his name because he most definently didn't look familiar.
