'Part of me is with you,
and part with me.
And one misses the other,
So would you please unite them?'

CHAPTER ELEVEN
Footsteps echo down the stairs into the kitchen, muting Bruno's heartfelt laughter.
I turn to the entrance, waiting patiently to see who has interrupted with the power of their steps.
A woman enters, two crates in her arms cover her face yet she manages to step off the final stair steadily.
Bruno stands and assists her, grabbing one of the heavy boxes off the woman as she walks past towards the back of the kitchen.
My eyes follow them, admiring her strength. She mutters in German, I assume, and Bruno replies.
"Oh" I turn to the entrance and smile softly at the figure.
At first glance, I think he is a young boy but the flicker of awe in his aged eyes change my perception.
His hands hold a small box of vegetables before him, his body faces me and remains still as he takes in my form with amazed excitement.
Standing slowly from my seat, I soften my gaze on the perplexed individual and turn to look at Bruno in the corner who is of no help eating a banana from the newest crate as the woman also takes me in.
"You actually exist" She whispers. Bruno pays no attention, the amazement in the room hits his empty head and reflects back into the air.
I do all I can. Smiling softly in her direction, I quickly glance at the person before me whose mouth has now parted with the weight of his awe.
"Hi?" I say unaware whether that was the right thing to say yet Bruno is too busy with other priorities to help me.
The woman walks over to stand to my right. Her pinned blonde hair exposes her elegant features. Bright blue eyes echo her good intentions.
The animals in my stomach flutter in an attempt to guide my evaluation, telling me there was something familiar about her. She feels known.
She takes a deep breath, composing herself before dropping her head.
"My apologies My Queen" She raises her head and smiles respectfully.
"You caught us both off guard"
Yes, so from tomorrow we have to leave our room for more than 10 minutes at a time.
I return her smile with less intensity. She crosses her hands before her and maintains her formal persona.
"I'm Maria" She gestures to the other man "And this is Alex"
"Maria is Aelfric's mate" I turn to Bruno, narrowing my eyes slightly at the sight of him.
That's why they feel so similar.
Right.
"And Alex is the cook" He mirrors Maria's action, lowering his head whilst balancing the box in his hands.
I look back between the two of them.
"It's nice to meet you both" I smile.
Maria gasps and closes the distance between us all formality left on her previous spot.
