Sadie sat on her bed with her stuffed bear as she waited for lunch to be ready. She was sitting in silence until she heard arguing out side of her door. She got up and pulled it open to reveal Five and Ben arguing. "Guys! What's going on?" She asks."It's none of your concer-" a blunt Number Five started before Sadie held his mouth to a close. "Speak." She said to Ben. "Five's about to do something stupid." Ben smacks his hands in his legs.
"Don't tell me he's gonna ask about time traveling again." The girl says. She lets go of his mouth. "You really are a pain in the ass you know that?" He says to Sadie. "Why can't you just accept that's he's not gonna let you time travel in like a thousand years." The girl rolls her eyes.
"Im gonna ask." He says. "No you're not, or I swear to God I'm gonna tell dad about the coffee you sneak at night." She says."Whatever." His Eyes rolled to the side. Their conversation was interrupted by the bell. The three of them rushed down stairs.
The sibling stood behind their chairs waiting for their father. After a few minutes Reginald came out pulled his chair and sat. He looked up that children blankly. "Sit." He says. Sadie sat down in her chair along with her siblings. The brunette tuned out the radio that was playing as she glared at Five. He looked at her before looking back down.
At this point he couldn't take it. He had to ask if he could do it. He wanted to be the best, he just had to learn. He grabbed his butter knife and stabbed it on to the table causing Sadie to perform a hard flinch.
"Number Five?" Reginald asked.
"I have a question." He says. "Knowledge is an admirable goal, but you know the rules, no talking during meal times. You are interrupting Herr Carson." He held his knife up pointing at the radio.
The boy pushed his plate away. Sadie rolled her eyes. "I want to time travel." He says. "No." Reginald replies. "But, I'm ready. I've been practicing my spacial jumps just like you said." He stood up and jumped beside his father. "See?" He asks.
"A spacial jump is trivial when compared to the unknowns of time travel. One is like sliding along the ice, the other is akin to descending blindly into the depths of the freezing water and reappearing as an acorn." Reginald explains.
"We'll, I don't get it." The boy said quietly. "Hence, the reason you're not ready." Reginald stated. Five looked over at Sadie who shook her head. "I'm not afraid." the boy assured. "Fear isn't the issue. The effects it might have on your body even on your mind, are far to unpredictable. Now, I forbid you to talk about the anymore." Reginald explained.
Five looked at Sadie one last time before walking away. The siblings looked at him. "Number Five! You haven't been excused! Come back here!" Reginald yelled.
They heard the door slam. "Number Eight. Go get him. Quickly." He says. Sadie gets up and sprinted towards the door.
"Five!" She shouted once she saw him outside. He turned to look at her and kept walking. "Five!" She ran before he spacial jumped.
"Shit."
1 day later.
Sadie stepped into the room where she saw her father and Grace. "You needed to see me?" She mouthed quietly. "Indeed." He responds bluntly as he points to a chair.
"After yesterdays events, I'm sure you have a clue what's about to occur." He spoke. Sadie felt a ball in her throat immediately after he mentioned it. "Dad, It truly wasn't my
fault-" "Quiet. I will not hear your excuses."
