Three Days, Two Dead, One Missing

Words of my people.

After dealing with Tom, we packed the body up and brought it back to the bureau. I brought it down to the morgue and was allowed to work on the body. The pathologists down here are paid by hours not cases. So they don't care who does the job.

"Go ahead, the bodies all yours."
The small curly haired woman pointed to the body with the end of her cigarette and spun a little in her chair. She had the voice of someone who smoked a few a day. Not too harsh, but still raspy.

"Okay? Could I have a friend or two help me? And am I allowed to ask you for help if I can't identify something?"
I held my clipboard against my chest rather tightly.

"Sure, just don't bother me unless it's important. Okay, well everything in a murder case is important. Just- you know what I mean. Get to it."

I walked over to the table with the woman on it and looked at her face. She looks kinda sad, I don't know if it's just the decomp of her flesh, or just how's sad the case is. She just looks a little grief stricken.

I fished in my pocket for my voice recorder. I had always heard that they used them during examinations. My hand connected with hard plastic. Bingo. I grabbed my phone from my other pocket and dialed Jamie's number.

Ri- "Hello?"

"Hi! Jamie, it's Amelia, you can come down now!"

"Kay, be right there."

She hung up and I put my phone on the tray next to the table. I pulled the recorder out of my pocket.

"Darling, they haven't used those since agent Scully was in style." The smell of cigarette filled my nostrils. Small curly haired woman has an opinion on my 'style'.

"Just use that thing above the table."

I reached up and grabbed the thing that looked kinda like a microphone. Clicked the red button and spoke the words of my people.

"4:54 p.m. begin autopsy on one white male, age 60, who is arguably having a worse time in Texas than I am...although not by much."
