The group sat in a circle. Twelve young adults and one older adult all in folding chairs.
"So, who wants to share something that made you very angry this week?" the counselor, Tina, said, as the young group groaned. They all outwardly despised being in this anger-management group, but most were forced to come by parents or a court, and all had come to a point in their life where they understood the need for change. "Remember, this month we are focusing on the other person and trying to consider their thoughts and feelings."
"Okay, so like I guess my mom and older brother really pissed me off this week," Rebecca said. Already dreading where this was going to go, Mason sunk down into his chair and pulled his hoodie low down his face. He looked out the window, and could imagine the early summer night, and the fresh air. He couldn't wait to get outside. He hated the way the people in his group complained about their family, what he wouldn't give to have those problems again. He tried to switch groups, but this was the only one that would fit into his busy schedule. A schedule created by his aunt, thinking if he was always busy it would keep him too tired to try to fight anymore. Mason thought it was working he hadn't tried to fight anyone in weeks, though he still often wanted to. Like right now, what he wouldn't give to kick the chair out from under Rebecca. The thought made his snicker a little.
"Mason, you aren't being very respectful to Rebecca's share," Tina said. "Perhaps you would like to share something with the group?"
"Ugh Miss, C'mon. You know Mason Jar is too good for us," Rebecca said, and the group laughed with her as he groaned at his nickname. Mason was the newest to the group and wasn't too fond of it, so he hadn't started to make friends yet. But tonight, he really couldn't stand the thought of listening to someone else's drama, so he thought he'd share just to avoid that.
"Alright fine," Mason said as he sat back up in his chair, "I'll tell you what made me mad this week."

Let me set the stage because it is complicated. There are five of us in my group of friends, and they all dump their problems on me as if I don't have enough going on. Granted, they don't know that I come here. We usually all hang out at John's house, which he got about two years ago when his grandma died, shortly after we started college. Their family didn't want it to sit there empty and he was the oldest grand kid, so he got it, that's not very important. What is important is that they are all fucking each other. Gaby and John, and Sandra and Marc they all usually pair up and hook-up after Marc Sandra and I leave John's house. She usually gives me a ride home so that Marc can get to his house first and let her in. She talks excitedly about him the whole time and swears me to silence. They try to keep it a secret, but everyone knows.
"We should play hide-and-seek," Marc suddenly exclaimed, as if we weren't beating each other with a dildo not even five minutes ago. That's just what this group does. Stupid shit, like playing childish games, hitting each other with dildos, fucking each other. The usual shit, right? I could see the wheels behind Marc's head turning and knew he was up to something like he often is. It's funny because I can always see him planning it; we've been friends for about three years, John introduced us, and it's a face I've grown to know and love.
"No. Remember last time? John accused me of cheating when I won. We need a points system," I said. John refuses to lose, especially when Gaby is around. We are best friends, but I know that sometimes I'm kind of a threat in his mind. Gaby almost picked me. He is different when she isn't around, but I wonder how John acts when I'm not around and if the need to win is still so great. I already consider John the winner, he got the girl, and I'm becoming okay with that.
"That's because you were cheating, Mason," John almost snapped back. John has been my friend since childhood, but lately he's been kind of an asshole. It started shortly after he started hooking up with Gaby. I had a huge crush on her and really couldn't hide it and eventually he figured it out. That's when the competition started. As I started hanging out with her more and more she started pulling away from John. I'm not sure what happened but one day she pretty much stopped talking to me outside of our group and started being more public with her affection towards John.
