I. Am. Screwed.
My ten-year old sister is getting ready for a dinner date with a boyband while I'm a sixteen-year old lounging around the house in my pants and a ratty old red T-shirt that said 'Why are you staring?' in bold, black letters.
I think the world has turned upside down.
How did I know?
Search no more because I have the answers.
3 Signs My World Is Turning Upside-Down
By: Teddy Wyatt
#1 My sister gets her first date at age 10,
whilst I've never had a date since
the age of dinosaurs.
#2 My sister joined and won the contest "Win A
Date With One Direction!".
#3 Hence, she's going on a date with One
freaking Direction. Tonight.
Don't ask me how the hell it happened.
Maybe I could blame it on her devout prayers to Cupid.
Or maybe it's just her persistence to buy 30 copies of One Direction's new album.
Because I don't know which is stronger.
Gaping and slack-jawed, I watch as George (my gay bestfriend who insists I call him/her Ginny) apply more touches of make-up on my sister's face to prepare her for the date that "a million girls would die for" (his words, not mine).
We were in Cassie's bedroom, a.k.a. One Direction's Holy Shrine and What Makes You Beautiful is playing from her phone.
Her bedroom was wallpapered with One Direction posters, and her bed was covered with (guess what?) One Direction bed sheets.
There was also a poster of Harry Styles above her bed, so "he will be the last face she'll see before sleeping" (her words, of course).
Suffice it to say, her life can be summarized in eleven letters: Directioner.
"Bibidibobbidyboo!" George sings like Cinderella's fairy godmother and claps proudly at his own masterpiece.
I stare at Cassie and groan inwardly. She looks like a ten-year old dressed like Madonna.
I made a mental note to myself that I probably shouldn't ask for George's help in cosmetic emergencies ever again.
