Charlotte Thorn has been nothing but a thorn in my side since the day we were born. You see our moms both got knocked up by their mates at the same time and quickly bonded over being the only two girls in our pack to have the same due date and when they found out we were both girls they were ecstatic thinking we would become the best of friends being birthday twins and all, but that's not how it went. It is frankly the exact opposite.

She's the Alphas daughter and always has felt that made her better than everyone else including me, a Gamma's daughter. She detested the fact that our moms being friends made it so we practically shared everything growing up. We shared clothes, toys, and even birthday parties. She couldn't stand the fact the attention was on both of us instead of just her for her birthday. At the age of five, she truly started making it known how much she spits me by doing things like spilling a drink on my dress just because we were made to wear matching outfits half the time, as our parents gushed about how we looked like sisters. By the time we were nine, she proclaimed "just because we share the same birthday doesn't mean I need to share anything with her! I despise Violet Reyes!" In the middle of our birthday party right as the cake was being brought out. That was the last time we were ever made to share a same-day party.

Although our mothers stayed friends they didn't bring up us being friends anymore. I decided to just give the day June 29th to Charlotte and made my party a week earlier than our actual birthday every year that way our pack mates could attend both. That seemed to appease her, but that didn't stop the snarky comments she made now and then to me. There have been multiple times I almost showed the Alphas daughter who the hell she was messing with, but I stopped myself because although I despise Charlotte I respect and love our Alpha and Luna. It's not their fault they gave birth to a raging self-centered bitch.

I'm just happy as we both grew up we ended up liking completely different clothing styles so we never accidentally wore similar things to school. I'm a comfortable -sometimes if I'm feeling spicy- Y2K type of girl as long as it's nothing too showy whereas Charlotte is the exact opposite, anything with glitter and glam is her thing. She dresses like a celebrity because when you are the daughter of one of the top ten Alphas worldwide you practically are a celebrity.

"Hey, Vi." My thoughts scatter as an arm drapes around my shoulder causing me to slightly jump as I turn to look at the perpetrator only to realize it's just my best friend Talon, the soon-to-be Alpha of the Jasper pack. His pack is ranked number two in the world of strongest packs whereas the Thorn pack falls at number eight. Our school is a combination of three packs- the Jasper, Thorn, and Willow pack all go here making the total number of students who attend this fake "private school" at 3,581. The Willow pack is number ten in the world of strongest packs and no, this isn't a coincidence. When the packs were rising to power the ten strongest split off into areas and groups around the world where they worked together in training and alliances to keep their spots in the top ten. They realized working together to maintain their spots was better than destroying each other which would leave the much wanted top ten spots to another pack who may not be worthy of that title or territory.

"Tal, how many times do I have to tell you to stop sneaking up on me? It scares the shit out of me!" A deep chuckle escapes his lips as he smiles down at me.

"You are a daughter of a Warrior yet you didn't hear me coming because you got too stuck in your head once again. You need to focus a little more Vi."

A sigh escapes my lips as I playfully glared at him.

"You sound like my dad. Stop talking now." I say as he goes to open his mouth to respond when suddenly his eyes revert elsewhere causing my brows to scrunch up. I quickly look over to what suddenly grabbed his attention only for me to actually glare at him this time. There in a pink glittery crop top and a white and pink plaid skirt is my mortal enemy. Sure she's a gorgeous girl with long flowing golden hair, big round blue eyes, and boobs I would literally kill to have- that doesn't mean that he should be looking at her like he wants to jump her bones right here and now. Whatever happened to friendship loyalty? He knows I hate that girl.

I curve myself a little into Talon as I raise my left fist quickly jabbing him in the chest causing his azure eyes to snap to my brown ones.

"Can you not eye fuck my mortal enemy in front of me? I mean come on where's the loyalty?" I huff out as a smirk curls onto Talon's lips.

"Aw is my little Vivi jealous? It's ok I was thinking about how good you would look in an outfit like that." He says as his voice goes course making my face heat up as I pull away from his arm putting a distance between us. Talon has been my friend since we were both seven. I never really looked at him in any other light because I have a mate out there waiting for me and Talon has always been too flirtatious for his own good. I don't take anything he says seriously, but him thinking about me in an outfit that's so unlike myself just doesn't make me feel right at all. It rubs me the wrong way even though I know he's just joking.

"I'm sorry Vi, it was just a joke. I didn't mean to upset you." Talon frowns at me as I just stare at him trying to understand why what he said affected me so deeply. I'm not usually an outwardly sensitive person. I have sensitive moments but I usually keep those locked inside of me so no one knows my weak points and uses them to emotionally manipulate me or hurt me later on.

"I'm serious Vi, I didn't mean it. You are perfect the way you are. I wasn't trying to anger you."

I sigh as I walk back to him letting him re-slink his arm over my shoulder as we continue our trudge to Social Economics.

"I forgive you just don't compare me to others especially not my enemy," I grumble still slightly in my sour mood.

The next few mins walking to the class he tells me jokes and says things to make me laugh quickly cheering me up. By the time we are actually entering class, I'm in a good mood ready to finish up the last week of school.
