Umbrellas and Rain | BC 1

In this case, "BC" stands for break chapter meaning it's not quite a chapter for the main fic, but more of a side story. It's a one-shot, think of it as something in the future of the fic but not as important or relevant.

"Another day of school finished. This is getting kind of boring, but oh well at least we're not in here for the most of the day." Lumi thinks to herself while packing her stuff. "Gotta go home now- ah shit." Lumi looks out the window right next to her seat, seeing the pouring rain.

"Well crap. This is where not listening to the weather forecast or not looking at your weather app gets you. I didn't pack shit for the rain- guess I gotta wait it out." Lumi sadly says to herself. She makes her way to the school entrance, but stops as she sees Nova by the lockers and goes to talk to her.

"Hey Nova! What are you up to?" "Oh hey Lumi! Nothing much really, you know just the old packing and going. Drastic has a surprise for me apparently so I gotta get going soon. And you?" "Ah, nothing much either. Got no 'brella so I might have to stay late. Might you have one?" "Aw sorry bro, didn't pack one 'cause boyfie said he was gonna pick me up instead." "Oh it's okay. I'll just wait the weather out." "Alright then! Hope everything goes well, Drastic just texted me saying he arrived- soo gotta go, peace!" "Bye and have fun!" "Thanks!"

And Lumi continues to head to the school entrance. Upon arriving she sees Iris looking out at the rain. Lumi walks up to her and starts a conversation. "Hey Iris! You waiting on anyone?" "AH- Gosh Lumi you shocked me-" "Oh I'm sorry! I didn't mean to." "Yeah it's okay. But to answer your question, nope! Just admiring the rain. It's calming. Good thing I always have an umbrella packed though! How about you?" "Oh uh- about that- I do not have an umbrella." Lumi sighs. "I just have to wait until it stops. Though it's kinda getting harder and harder so I think I'll be here for a while.." Silence befalls the two and Iris starts thinking to herself.

"Hmm.. I know! I think the umbrella I have is enough to fit two people so.. d-do you wanna share it w-with me? I can walk you home if you want.. or we could hang out for a bit.." "S-sorry, I couldn't make out that last part, what did you say?" "Oh no no, it's okay! Don't worry about it. Do you still wanna share an umbrella with me..?" "I'll give you my answer in a sec, for now could you excuse me for a moment?" Lumi shyly asks. "Take all the time you need!"

Lumi runs to the nearest bathroom and screams into the palm of her hands. "Holy shit! AAAAA DUDE! What the fuckkk!!! Iris you're making me FREAK and even more gay!! What the helll, I'm literally about to sob, of what even?? Happiness?? Excitement?? AGHHH I feel like a mess! What do I do??? I want to accept but I wouldn't be able to control myself- Ugh God help me. I don't wanna wait here for too long so I could use it.. Oh my walking in the rain with probably the best girl in the world.. probably inches close to touching shoulders- aight I need to just stop. Just have to breathe.." Lumi breathes in and out repeatedly until she finally calms down. " Anyway.. Fuck it! I'm doing it. You miss all of the shots you don't take, after all." Lumi walks back to the school's entrance to see Iris patiently waiting for her.

"Iris! I'm back!" "Hey Lumi! Welcome back! So.. what's your answer?" "I'd love to, Iris." "C'mon then, let's go!" "Gladly."

As they exit the school and step into the rain, they can feel each other's warmth that completely cancels out the cold that the rain brings. Seconds into walking, both of them thought that nothing else mattered except the moment they were currently sharing. Lumi could feel everything wrong go away. It's like her soul was free. A dream come true for her, sharing an umbrella with her biggest crush, taking in the air and the smell of nature with her. Iris felt like she was about to melt. She didn't truly realize how she felt about Lumi before this moment. All of their individual thoughts come to a stop, when Lumi talks to Iris.

"Hey Iris.." "Hm..?" "Do you maybe wanna uh.." Lumi couldn't get the words out of her mouth. But fortunately, she finds the courage she needed and continues "..uhhm just- hold hands maybe? To save more space? You can refuse! It's perfectly fine!" "O-oh! I- haha, no! It's okay. I assume it's alright with you, so.." Iris' hands finds her way to Lumi's hands and their fingers intertwine. They were avoiding eye contact with one another, but even then, that moment felt like the best feeling in the world. But sadly as they say, all good things must come to an end.

"We're here.." Lumi says, albeit with some disappointment. "Y-yeah.. it would seem so.. I'll see you tomorrow?" Iris asks. "You bet." "Okay then. Bye, Lumi! This was really nice." "I agree. Bye Iris! I love you." Lumi having whispered that confession, Iris walks away not knowing Lumi's true feelings. Lumi walks into her house and sits on her couch.
