So sorry I haven't updated for awhile, but I had hit serious writers block. I'm also very rusting with my grammar and spelling. Not to mention I kind of forgot where the hell I was going with the story.

Anyways hope you enjoy the first chapter!

Conner's P.O.V

How does one look towards their future, when they can't even face their past. I've been running from mine for ten years. Leaving behind the people who loved me, all because some nut falling off the crazy tree.

Ten long years of the not knowing how my family is doing, are they still looking for me, do they even think I'm still alive. So many questions left unanswered, but I do one thing. I can still go back to where it all started. From there I will gather as much clues about where my family could have gone.

We never stay in one town or city for too long because I didn't want the risk of getting caught by those monsters. Everything they touch turns to poison and the only cure, is to get far away as possible. But no matter how far I run, they will always be right behind me.

Always looking over my shoulder wondering if they're getting close. Having major trust issues when I meet new people. The only ones I can trust are Max, Jason, Knox, Casper and Wraith. Max and I met up with Jason and Knox five years ago. They were running away from their foster parents, they didn't give us a reason, but I believed that we had to earn their trust. And after five years of being together they barely trust us. The only thing we got from them is their name, age and what kind of shifter they are.

There are many shifters out there, but I only got to meet a few of them. The twins being one of them. Of course it took a lot of convincing that we weren't hunters or someone that's out to get them. Let's just say when they shift, they both look fluffy and cute.

It's been a long and torturous road, but finally I'm heading back home with my family and a new found determination. Unfortunately, we won't be able to use our real names. After all that's how we have been keeping under the radar. It sucks sometimes not be able to tell others who we really are, but we knew it was for our own safety.

Driving by the 'Welcome' sign to the town I once called home. I can't help, but remember what happen here. Shaking my head, as if to get rid the silent movie playing in my head. Reaching over to Max, shaking him to get up. All I got was a groan, of course he would be hard to get up.

Instead I heard a yawn coming from the back. At least some is up that help me get the address to our new house. Glancing back briefly I saw that it was once of the twins, Casper.

"Hey Cas, do you remember the address for the house?" I asked while basically driving around aimlessly.

"No, Max was the only that knows. He didn't even bother telling us either," spoke while stretching. Only to remind me that I was getting sore for lacking of moving my limbs around.

"Well come up here and search his pockets. It's late and I just want to get some sleep," yawning at the end just to prove my point. Casper made his way to the front without waking up the others, which is a feat in itself. Cause these guys don't like having their sleep disturbed.

I randomly pulled into a street not even caring where I was going at this point. When all of a sudden something came running on the road. Slamming on the breaks hard causing SUV to lurch forward causing all the passengers to be thrown forward. Especially Casper, since he was leaning over to find the address from Max's pockets.

"Dude! What the fuck?" Max yelled at me and Casper was busy swearing up a storm. All while trying to right himself. All the rest were busy grumbling about having their sleep disturbed.

"Will you guys shut the hell up," I grumbled out trying to see what had ran across the road. Pulling the door handle to let myself out of the vehicle. Actually being one of those dumbasses that go out when they really shouldn't.

I walk towards the front of the vehicle expecting to see something, but there was nothing. Looking around the area even with my impeccable eye sight, I still saw nothing. Beside houses in a nice looking suburb that was right near a small lake. Turning around back to the SUV just as I was about the open the door. I heard a little whimper. Stopping and straining my ear to hear which direction it was coming from.

The passenger door open with Max looking over the top to face me, "What are you doing?"

"Shhh...," just then the noise happen again. Max hearing it also.

"What is that?" giving a deadpan look. Really he had to ask a stupid question. It broke my concentration, but thank goodness the noise came again. Heading in towards the small lake edge of where the noise was coming from, I stopped to listen.

After standing there for a few more minutes with whimpering noise seeming to have vanish. I gave up and turn to head back, but just like that the noise came again. I was standing right where it was coming from. There was tall weeds and grass, pushing them aside and peering over to see what was making the noise.

Letting out unmanly sound to which then caused Max to come see what made me gasp.

"What the hell are you doing, going all girly on us now," not even bothering to answer him for that remark and pointed to what I was looking at. He glanced at it, but took a double, "Is that what think it is?"

"Yeah and I almost hit it," still in the state of shock. There in the tall grass and weeds was a small shifter mattered in blood and shaking uncontrollable.

"What do we do?" Max asked me. Without really thinking about it, I picked up the young wolf shifter and head back to the SUV. Max got in right after I did, placing the pup on his lap. Starting the SUV I asked for direction to our new house.

This has turn out to be a long night. Can't wait for what tomorrow would bring.
