It began with an argument that seemed normal to all who came over that evening. An argument that would lead to something much worse. It was around eight, Yume's older sister who had recently returned home from work had chosen to come over for a visit while on her hour break. Following a few minutes, Eve, also known as Yume's older sister, was expected to go directly back to work within the first fifteen minutes of her time.
Yume's mother spoke on the phone with different people, one after the other. I would have to constantly advise her to put it on DND, so their calls would be silenced, yet however, as kind as my mom seemed to be to other people, she would have rather not appear to be discourteous.
Yume's POV:
I've just about had it with her shit, she does this to me constantly, it's steady torment I tell you!! I'm irritated, disturbed, and tired. Honestly, I can't rest thanks to my mother. I wish she would just shut the fuck up and learn to have her phone silenced when we're sleeping.
As in "we're", I say that because I don't have my room in this household. My older siblings get them, and the youngest has to sleep with their mother. Normally, I wouldn't mind sharing a room with her, but now she's been getting into the habit of speaking with others every hour of her time. Like how much shit are you going to speak? Anyways, I chose to cause a scene since it was practically around nine o'five.
"MUM", I called out to her furiously, enraged with anger.
More than once I would say, 'mum' until she would notice that I'm fucking tryna speak to er'.
My mother glanced over at me and waved her hand as though she was dismissing me. I took that gravely, was the person she was conversing with more important than me? Her daughter for god's sake! Now, that was screwed up.
I yelled from where I was standing, and gave her a cold hard stare not caring who i was waking up that night. "Mamá, non fixeches máis que falar por ese maldito teléfono todo o día. Mesmo esquezas comer falando con esas desculpas dun adulto. Que se enfurruñan e que sufran sós, que non te necesitan, que non necesitan despotricar unha e outra vez polo seu día e ti tampouco. Iso é todo por hoxe!"
In English, this means, "Mum you've done nothing but talk on that damn phone all day. You even forget to eat talking with those excuses of an adult. Let them sulk and suffer alone, they don't need you, they don't need to rant on and on about their day and neither do you. That's it for today!" That finally caught her attention, and the person on the call went silent carefully listening as if it was their business too. Although they're not family, at least not to me.
Not knowing that even with the person still on the call, she would speak back to me in Galician. (which the author would be translating into English)
My mother said, "Quen cres que es para dicirme cando é a miña hora de durmir? Es ti quen deberías estar durmindo, pero non estás."
(Hello it is the author, here is the translation also how are you feeling about the story, is it told well?)
"Who do you think you are to tell me when it's my bedtime?! It is you who should be sleeping, yet you aren't."
(Author again, this whole conversation will be in Galician. Bolded means English translation, and slanted means the author interrupting the story. Hehe okay sorry back to the story)
Yume said, "Mamá, tes que aprender a mirar a hora, é medianoite, levo o tempo esperando a que deas o teléfono, pero con cento corenta e dous contactos, non se sabe cando paras".
"Mom, you need to learn to look at the time, it's midnight, I've spent my time waiting for you to get off the phone, but with one hundred forty-two contacts, there's no telling when you'll stop."
Then my mother sighed and said, "Síntoo, terei que falar contigo mañá, a miña filla está a crear unha escena".
"I'm sorry, I'll have to talk to you tomorrow, my daughter is creating a scene."
The person on the call sounded like my aunt, but then again it could just be my ears deceiving me as always. They said, "no no it is alright, I understand, goodnight love." Though in English, as if they wanted me to hear them say, love, as in lover, as in PARTNER, AS IN DATING?! But you know I don't think I care anymore.
With that, I made my way to my room which would be my mother's but entirely, because I'd made up my mind to leave.
(Goddamit I said I wouldn't be back but c'mon, I'm the author, and also this is important, so please understand. Any who, So in this particular story, if you've read my bio on my profile, you would understand that I write these stories off on my dreams, like dreams I would have when sleeping. This means that all this is make-believe and there will be a lot of unexplained logic. Kk that's all goodbye.)
I took my small navy blue knapsack and added all that I found valuable or like things I would need to survive. In my backpack, in every area that would be vacant, there would be a folder that would be named after each item related to that segment. I love that backpack. I also had a pet from my previous job. They said I could keep it for protection because I was their favorite for working there for two years and being good to the clients.
She's a female golden bear, fleecy as ever and extra friendly only to those she doesn't consider hazardous. I named her, Yuriru, or Yuri for short. She's my dearest companion, like my absolute best friend, she's always there for me and she carries power with her, she's very valuable, and now that I don't have a house, I can now reside with my pet. I simply trust that I won't be a total aggravation.
Eve's POV:
I saw my sister Yume packing all her things as if she was going to move out, I decided to approach her and ask, "And where do you think you're going?" In English though because I'm not very familiar with Galician.
"Only going out for a stroll, to cool off." Yume said looking back to her bag, to continue packing. However, I got in front of my sister, obstructing the entryway, and said, "are you coming back though? It's almost ten o'clock."
"I'll come back when I'm ready." I lied because I ain't gonna come back to this shit hole you call home. There was nothing more to say to her. I said what I'd already said.
My sister then removed her hand from the door and went directly to my mother's room. I wasn't concerned about what she planned to say. I was worried if I didn't leave home before my mom could say anything. Then I wouldn't be able to leave.
No one POV:
Yume then finished packing up and putting her phone in her pocket. She had black onesies that would cover her from her neck to her feet. She also had long black shoes, a black mask, and a hoodie that would cover about half of her look.
Yume gave the house another look before she left. She recalled that since she was a young lady, her menstruation would start soon. So, she went into the washroom and hunched to search for a pack of pads which would surely be enough for the years she would be gone. If she would even be alive until then.
Then Yume made her way to the door, shutting it behind her. Leaving a note on the counter saying, "I won't be back, I lied. Addressed by your dear daughter Yume." I began endlessly strolling until she made her way to a side shop, or somewhere safe.
