Toga smiled lazily, licking her teeth.
"What the fuck Toga." Her burnt companion said, in more of a statement than a question.
"What, huh Dabi-kun? It's not every day we get to go out." Her smile grew wider, revealing the sharpness and length of her canines. Her eyes flitted from her surroundings to Dabis face. "And besides, it's not everyday we get to see UA students."
Dabi snorted.
"The only thing we're going to be seeing is jail bars if you keep licking your sharp-ass teeth and keep drawing attention to yourself." He said through gritted teeth, clapping his hand over her mouth as a student turned to welcome a friend, chuckling irritatedly.
"I would bite you if you weren't so burnt and crispy. And also the staples." Toga said through his hand as the student turned to his friends. Dabi grunted, retracting his hand with a glare.
"Loosen up Dabi-kun," She glanced at Dabi, who was wearing a mask and a hat under a hoodie. "And besides, you're the one drawing attention to yourself anyways."
It was true. Toga had transformed into someone random, and the teeth-licking probably just made it look like she had something in her teeth, though she ended up actually revealing her sharp teeth when she licked them. However, Dabi looked like he was avoiding capture with a 20,000 yen bounty on his head.
"Why are we the ones assigned to figure their schedule? The only wonders we've found are the red-head's frequent (very sweaty) gym attendance, and the floaty one is poor." He waved out his hands. "What a discovery."
Toga frowned at him. She normally wouldn't have cared but she did not take Ochaco slander. Dabi looked at her, rolling his eyes.
"You have the most apparent bias I've ever seen, Toga."
From the outside, Dabi looked like he choked on his food, had a horrible allergic reaction, or was reason to start a new respiratory sickness induced pandemic, when Toga elbowed him in his very weak, very burnt, ribs.
"Oh! Are you okay sir? Do you need some water?" Toga heard an oddly voice familiar voice say from beside them.
Toga looked to her side, spotting, who she had guessed to be there: Ochaco. They'd already figured out Uraraka was pretty poor, but it didn't occur to them she'd have part time jobs, though most League members did too to help with funds. And it's not like people who were just as well off didn't work part time either.
Ochaco looked pretty as a waitress, chestnut brown hair falling down the front of the shoulders of her apron. Her name tag said: "Hello! My name is: Uraraka :)" (yes, including the smiley face, which Toga thought was cute).
"I'm more of a fire guy, thanks, but you can ask my brother if he wants some. Preferably boiling." Dabi wheezed.
Togas jaw dropped. Uraraka literally knew Todoroki. She was going to elbow him again and this time make sure he was forced to recover for at least 10 minutes.
Uraraka looked confused but the poor girl was smiling and bearing it.
"Oh alright then. Can I get you anything else?" She asked.
Toga smiled at Uraraka, barely disguising the bloodthirsty quality to it. In a very suspicious turn of events, Dabi coughed, this time his knee hitting the table, causing the vase in the middle of the table to fall (which was very large) and the water to spill on the entirety of Togas shirt and the majority of the table.
"Oh!" Uraraka exclaimed, pulling out a napkin to wipe it all.
"I'm so sorry, are you okay?" She asked Toga, who was glaring at Dabi, but not angry enough to not notice how close Ochacos face got to hers as she reached over to wipe the table.
"You have nothing to apologize for," Toga said, though it didn't seem she was paying attention to her.
The girl was absolutely fuming, so Uraraka knew she would have to do something before the man got out in an ambulance. But more importantly, (she didn't know why) Uraraka felt bad for not having been able to catch the vase. She could've used her quirk, but in the moment she'd panicked.
Uraraka looked around. Flowers.
They'd spilled out of the vase when it had fallen. Somehow, she felt it was right as she picked up a bright red flower from the mix, perfectly undamaged, and strikingly colored.
So she placed it in front of the furious girls' face, who looked up at her in surprise.
"I uh just wanted to give you this, as an apology for getting you all wet. You don't have to take it, but I'd like you to." Uraraka explained, which was the truth.
Togas eyes widened as Ochacos brown ones kindly looked into hers.
"...Thank...Thank you.." Toga barely felt herself whisper as she took the flower in her hand, the color painstakingly colored bright as blood.
But for the first time, that wasn't what she was focused on.
Perhaps it hadn't been that big of a gesture, but god, she'd realized she'd never been given a gift in so, so long. Not been given the gift of kindness.
Her anger dissipated quickly, replaced by a sense of fluttering flattery. The action surprised her so much she did not realize anything that happened after.
Maybe it was because for the first time, the overwhelming sense of flattery and surprise was more than bloodlust.
Maybe because for the first time, someone actually cared enough about her even if it was technically a stranger.
Toga would never know, but that day she walked home with a flower. That day, she walked home in a daze. That day, she walked home in love with Ochaco Uraraka, and that day, she might not have realized it but inside she found that kindness was a thing that could do wonders.
