Note: I know there are some serious issues with this story; grammar and other mistakes, text is all too closely together, it's overall cliché and not very good when it comes to my writing. The thing is, English is not my first language and "Deemotay" is my first story ever I posted online. Add to that the fact I translated this story into English ages ago. My English has improved quite a lot since joining Wattpad.
Therefore, I'm going to drag this story through major editing. I'm already doing this to the original version (the one that's in Estonian). And then it's time to start re-translating (:
ADAM
I stood in the hallway and watched people go by. Students, who rushed in their classes, talking with their friends, just walking by and of course girls, who is standing in the end of the hallway. Giggling and watching me. This last one was inescapable. I smiled to myself. Soon they have to disappoint.
The door next to me opened and the head teacher stood in front of me. Jan Lepik - older man with short light brown and curly hair and pretty polite clothes. He didn't seem very rough. He was reviewing the papers in his hand. Then he gave them to me. "Here is your schedule. As you see, there's a teacher's name and class number after every lesson and... Lessons begin at 8 every day. You get your books from teachers. I hope you get along in your new school and... Can you find history class by yourself?"
"I'll be fine." I answered. Then he noded and returned to his office. I looked at my new schedule and headed towards history class.
KETLIN
I checked my watch. Class was starting any moment and I just had reached school. Gosh, Sara probably is really nervous about those math assignments I promised to show her - after much begging. I've always tried to make her focus on what teacher is saying.
I grabbed my bag and ran towards maths class. The bell had already ringed, but luckily teacher wasn't there yet. I took my seat next to Sara.
"Ketlin, where were you so long? I already thought you wouldn't come. Some here also need your notebook, but..." She looked at other girls. "I'm not sure if your notebook will interest them now."
I also looked at bunch of girls standing few desks away. They were all giggling and whispering about something and didn't even notice me. I took out my notebook and gave it to Sara, who was fast to rewrite it.
"But what are they talking about?" I asked, pointing at girls.
"About this new guy who came to this school today. He went to B class. I saw him standing next to headmasters office. He was soo cute." Sara said.
Of course. Some new hot guy comes, girls are over the moon, then comes out that some sassy hot girl starts to date him and everyone's so frustrated and so on.
Sara stared at me. "I know what you're thinking about. This guy isn't any usual hottie. You must see him by yourself. I think he was 18. And totally cute."
Yeah, Sara knew me well. But if Sara says so, I'd really like to see him myself. Still, I'm sure he isn't very different from other cute new guys.
"Teacher comes." someone whispered from the doorway.
"Damn." said Sara and gave my notebook back.
We stood at our lockers and chatted with Sara. Soon we heard girls giggle again.
"There he comes. Girls have already found out where his locker is. And we have a great view to it." Sara said. Then I looked at where she was looking.
I saw a tall boy with dark hair, wearing a black jacket. When I looked at his face, my heart started to beat faster. Sara didn't lie. He was just so... Ahh, I'm forgetting words.
He came closer. I think he saw us. Did he smile at us? Or at someone behind us? I didn't want to turn my head to check. Then I remembered that I'm staring at him. I looked away. But still saw him coming closer. His locker was... only few meters away?
He stopped at a locker about seven meters from us. I saw some girls getting closer to him slowly. One of them walked next to him and asked something. When he answered, I was charmed of his voice. I didn't even notice, what he said. Then he closed his locker and walked away, leaving the disappointed girl behind.
"He seems hard to break." Sara said.
Few days passed. Boy's name was Adam. I'd seen many times him saying no to girls. But i'ts been already made sure that he is single. I wonder where they always get all that information.
Once he even came to me and introduced himself to me. Actually he wanted to know where the english class is. But it was the first time I saw him going to someone and talk.
I didn't stare at him anymore. I started getting used with him. But I still liked him - like most of the girls in our school do. But unlike some, I didn't try to get his attention.
Thursday morning I came to school earlier. And I was sure that Sara or someone else wants to see my home assignments. Getting closer to school, I saw flashing lights. Frightened, I realized that there were police and ambulance in front of our school. I slowly went closer, hoping not to see anything too bad.
The place was crowded. People just standing there and whispering with others. I noticed Sara and Janely and went there.
"What happened? Why is ambulance here?" I asked, trying to understand what was going on.
"They found a girl's dead body next to school, in the forest." said Janely. "You know Mari from 9th grade?"
"Mari? What happened to her?" Actually I didn't know Mari well. I knew that she had trouble studying and something with her parents. I think they were separated.
"No one knows what happened. She was found without any injuries. Skin all white."
I saw paramedics lifting something in their van. Police tried to get students away and then ambulance drove away.
I noticed Adam standing on the corner of school, watching it all. He seemed nervous, or angry? Then he turned around and went behind the corner. He didn't stand far from me and for some reason I wanted to know, where was he going. When I reached the corner, I didn't see him anywhere. Where did he go so fast?
