"What? Why?" I said a little too loudly.
Georginna looked away from me, she appeared to be doubtful. She smiled then said,
"Because silly, I have to show you something, first."
I smiled in return and nodded, gesturing to lead the way. Georginna once again grasped my hand, and suddenly we were off. It had seemed as if we were headed toward the west wing. Georginna pushed the door open, leading us into the west hall. Where could she be taking me? What confused me the most was the way she was guiding me. I hadn't recognized the area. I knew the castle like the back of my hand. We came to the very end of the west hall, where the northwest hall formed. I didn't see it at first, but there it was a staircase. It was tucked into the very corner. Out of sight, only to be seen with a second look.
Georginna signaled for me to follow her down the staircase. I go behind her, down the steep stone steps. I had the slightest clue where I was going. My dress frilled up as a current of chilling air came from below. Georginna glanced back at me and smiled. Then pointed downward, her foot met a cold flat floor. The room I stepped into was reminiscent of a semicircle, wrapping around the center staircase. The curved walls farthest from me had openings or windows. Georginna grappled my hand and rushed to the window. I peered out seeing the sky blue horizon, clouds covering the sun. I glance back at Georginna and shoot her a confused but appreciative look. Georginna shakes her head, then steps closer to me.
"Look down, silly!" she teased.
I gazed down to see the west court, as in the sports court. My face immediately gleamed. I gapped at Georginna with pure excitement. She smiled then that smile turned into a giggle. I started to laugh with her.
"Your face is hilarious!" Georginna cackled.
"How did you find this place?" I asked.
"Long story," she replied.
"Come on! Tell me!" I prolonged.
"If you insist," Georginna smiled as proceeded I cut her off.
"I definitely insist!" I interrupted.
"Well, I was on my way to the East wing to give something to a guest, requested by Lord Noah. As I passed the hall I just saw it. I had never recognized it was there. But I decided a tiny detour would be a big deal," she paused.
My glare must have caused her to stop. I was laser-focused on the words spewing out of her mouth. Georginna smiled and let me know she was joyful about my listening skills.
"As I was saying, I went down the steps of the stairwell. And well, I found this place. It made me think of you," Georginna laid her head on the windowsill and a faint smile ran across her face.
"I must admit Georginna, you are an amazing girl. You keep managing to surprise me over and over," I claimed.
She gave a big grin and pulled me aside, further into the semi-circle structure. Georginna had a little station made, with cleaning supplies and a wooden bench. She grasped a broom and then handed me a duster. She immediately started sweeping.
"Come on, what do you think you're doing? Get to dusting girl!" She demanded.
"But what about going to Eastfox?" I asked bluntly.
"We have three days. We can go tomorrow, I promise I'll take you!" Georginna put her hand on my shoulders and embraced me.
I was shocked but decided to embrace her back. She was warm, her skin soft and smooth. She then let go and pushed the duster back into my hands. I nodded and went around the room and dusted. Every edge of every window. Every crevasse in between every stone amongst the wall. Every spider web with a beautiful design in the webbing. Georginna swept dirt into piles in intervals, a pile every few yards. She went back and forth sweeping, passing by me every so often. I got distracted looking at her braids bouncing as she practically ran while sweeping. They were long and a lovely shade of black. She scurried over to me and proceeded to flick me in the forehead.
