It a beautiful day in a quiet town. Four young girls are in a school club....they all call it....The Doki Doki Literature Club....
Sayori, a fine young girl, who is happy and cheerful.
Natsuki, a young girl who likes to bake and loves reading manga.
Yuri, a quiet young girl, who loves to read poems and writes her own poems about her love life.
And then, there's the one and only, Monika, the class president.
Sayori comes up to Monika.
Sayori: Hey, Monika?
Monika: Yeah, Sayori? What do you need?
Sayori: I don't think I feel well.....can I go home early?
Monika: Sayori, this is the tenth time this month....are you sure you're feeling okay?
Sayori: I'm okay....I guess I'm just coming down with something.....
Monika: Okay, Sayori.....see you on Monday....
Sayori grabs her backpack and notebook and walks out of the door. Natsuki notices.
Natsuki: Is Sayori okay?
Monika: I guess so. She said she's coming down with something.
Yuri: The flu? Coronavirus? A stomach bug?
Monika: COVID's already over, Yuri....and I don't think it's any of those things....
Natsuki: What do you mean, Monika?
Monika: She's not telling us something....she's hiding something from us....
Yuri: I don't think we shouldn't find out, Monika....it's not our business.....
Monika: We're her best friends and it is our business.
Back at her house, Sayori walks in the door. Her big brother, Jake greets her. He ruffled her hair playfully.
Jake: Hey, lil sis! Home early today?
Sayori: Yeah, I'm tired and I wanted to come home early today....
Sayori's mom, Eile, walks up to her youngest child and hugs her.
Eile: Hello, sweetie. Home early again today?
Sayori: Yeah, Mom....I'm just tired....
Eile: Go get some rest, sweetie. Dinner will be ready soon and I'll wake you up when dinner's ready.
Sayori: Okay, Mom....
Sayori walks upstairs to her and sits down on her bed, hugging her stuffed cow.
Sayori: (sad sigh) I miss you so much, Dad....
FLASHBACK
Five years ago, a nice tall man walks up to a nine year old Sayori.
Young Sayori: Daddy!!
Sayori's dad: Hello, my little sunshine....how was school?
Young Sayori: It was so much fun! I made some new friends!
Sayori's dad: That's good to hear!
Young Sayori: I love you, Daddy!
Sayori's dad: I love you too, my beautiful girl...
They both hugged each other.
A couple years later, her dad's life is about to come to a close. He was diagnosed with a high stage of cancer. An 11-year old Sayori cries by her dad's hospital bed anf her dad holds her hand.
Young Sayori: D-Dad?
Sayori's dad: My....beautiful girl....I love you so much.....
Young Sayori: Please don't leave me, Dad!
Sayori's dad: I'm sorry.....I have to go....but just so you know....I'll always be with you....and never forget....always keep on smiling and helping others feel happy, too....be happy for me, okay?
Young Sayori: O-okay, Dad....
Young Sayori hugs her dad gently and he kissed his daughter's forehead and strokes her hair.
Sayori's dad: I love you, my little sunshine....
And. Just like that, her dad passed away.....
END OF FLASHBACK
Sayori's beautiful blue eyes well up with tears and she cried on her bed, laying down and huggimg her knees. She cried herself to sleep and her mom came in moments later.
Eile: Sweetie, wake up....dinner's ready....
She notices her daughter's face and kneels down to look at her.
Eile: My baby girl....I'm so sorry you're like this....
She stroked her daughter's hair and Sayori opens her eyes.
Sayori: Mom....?
Eile: Hey, sweetie....you okay?
Sayori: I'm okay....I juat miss Dad...
Eile: I miss him too, sweetie....
Jake comes in his little sister's room.
Jake: We all do.
Sayori stands up and her mom walks with her. Jake hugs his little sister, showing loving affection.
Jake: I miss Dad, too....but like he said...he'll always be with us....
Sayori says nothing and lets out a sniffle and small whimper.
Jake: Com'n, little sis....let's go and get something to eat, okay?
Sayori nods at her big brother and went downstairs. Jake dries her tears and smiles at her.
Jake: I love you, lil sis....
Sayori: I love you too, big bro.
Both of them hugged each other and their mom looks on with a warm, loving smile.
