CHAPTER 12

______________________

With Gwen, Long and their bastard child out of the house and the lawyer informing him that his soon to be ex-wife wanted out of the marriage, Christian was finally ready to see his daughter. He was walking away with every dime he owned, all his properties and the car he bought her when they moved in their last home. Christian felt like the king he always knew he was. He and Nala have not had a good relationship for many years and he didn't want to lose her completely. He had done the unthinkable to ensure that her children were not hurt by any of his money-making activities and he planned to continue providing and protecting all his children.

Since he could no longer provide shelter for Nala with her mama, he decided he would buy her a place of her own and pay for overheads up until she was independent enough to take over. He might have failed as a husband on a number of occasions but he wasn't prepared to as a father. He made sure Chad was properly taken care of when he was still committed to Gwen and Nala on a full time basis. He continued to equally provide for both Chad and Nala when he was alternating as husband and present father. When Neaty fell pregnant, he ensured the best medical care and provided shelter for everyone who helps take care of their child in that family.

He loved his children equally and felt they knew how much he cared. Why wouldn't they know with all the money he gives them to make sure they're never in need? He even made sure that Nala was two hours away when he attacked the house in Bronx-Kay. Only the bastard child was there and he couldn't care less about him even if he tried. If he had died, he wouldn't have even felt sorry for Gwen who he can't believe he once loved. "It's a pity Long over powered the three idiots I sent".

Mason was ready to rekindle his relationship with his daughter and called her as soon as he got into his Jeep but she didn't pick up so he texted her. He hadn't seen her in a year or so (he wasn't counting) and was planning on making it up to her.

It was a cold Monday morning and many students were walking around campus, chatting, laughing and working on Christian's nerves. He felt his heart beat slowly return to its normal rhythm when her entered the reception area. He nonchalantly explained he had come to see his daughter to one of the three ladies behind the long reception desk and enquired about the classes she was attending on the day. He further explained how he had been calling her to no avail. One of the front desk ladies whose name tag read, Clara, explained she wasn't at liberty of giving strangers the details of their students, but Christian doesn't take too kindly to people refusing to do as he says. He threatened to make her life miserable if she doesn't cooperate. Flustered, Clara asked one of the lecturers who was passing by to assist but he too advised Mason to try call his daughter again. Christian promised to have them both fired before the end of the day if they fail to locate his daughter within a reasonable time for him, effectively creating panic that made them wonder who he could be to have that kind of power. And as if on cue, Warren strode in there and then. When Christian introduced himself as Nala Mason's father, Warren eagerly took over the matter. He couldn't believe he was standing next to his girlfriend's father. Warren assured Mason he could definitely assist and directed him to a nearby office. Mrs. Forest was walking out of the very same room, heading for lunch when Warren and Christian appeared around the corner. "This is my mother...I mean Mrs. Forest; one of the lecturers on campus." Then he turned to his mother, "this is Mr. Mason. Nala's father." At that moment, all the hunger Mrs. Forest had, escaped her and was replaced with star-struck energy. She welcomed Christian addressing him as Mr. Surgeon Mason sir. She offered him coffee and told him how amazing his daughter was and proudly adding that Warren enjoyed assisting Nala with her school work because he is not only a helpful lecturer but a gentleman too. Christian thanked her and asked about the university and its operations, which was information Mrs. Forest was only but too keen to share with Mr. surgeon Mason Sir. After all, she was talking to her son's future father-in-law.
