Frozen Time (Cookie run au)

Scene Five: Visiting Relatives

*Next Day*

Frozen Cabbage was watching tv in the living room with his little brother Frozen Zucchini, his mother had angrily scolded him once she found out he had been expelled, but she went to her room to sleep right after, leaving him with Frozen Zucchini.

Cornstalk wasn't home yet, he was in the after school program and he took the bus, so the both of them just waited until he came home.

Zucchini had noticed something different once he saw his older brother, he didn't know what it was, but something was off about Frozen Cabbage, he just couldn't put his finger on what.

"Hey, Zucchini."

"What?"

"You wanna go visit Aunt Spinach and Uncle Herb?" Frozen Cabbage asked, Frozen Zucchini's face lit up, "Yeah! Is she feeling better?"

"Um, I don't know, but we might as well visit her right?"

"Yeah!"

Frozen Cabbage and his brother got ready and headed out the door.

The two had arrived at their aunt and uncle's workplace, entered, and headed to their aunt's office, "Hey, what are you kids doing?"

They turned around and saw a worker approach them, "Kids don't work here, now scram," he snarled at them, Frozen Cabbage felt Frozen Zucchini tighten his grip on his hand.

"Hey hey, those are my nephews," A green-haired man came up to them and eyed the worker loathingly.

"Now get back to work!" Herb Cookie said in a threatening voice, the worker eyed him in annoyance and left.

Herb's mood quickly changed as he smiled and proceeded to hug the two boys, "How are my nephews doing?"

"Good!" Frozen Zucchini yipped, "Where's Cornstalk Cookie?" Herb asked.

"After school program," answered Frozen Cabbage, "How's Aunt Spinach?" Frozen Zucchini asked back.

Herb sighed, "Your auntie isn't doing so well, she would be better if it weren't for my coworkers, those fucking-."

"Don't say anything your uncle is saying right now until you're older, ok?" Frozen Cabbage told Zucchini as Herb Cookie was swearing his coworkers out, Zucchini nodded.

"Anyways," Herb finished, "You guys can still see her though!"

Herb cookie led his nephews to Spinach's office, Herb opened the door, "Honey, Frozen Cabbage and Frozen Zucchini came!"

Spinach Cookie was sitting in her office chair, she was wilted, rotted, and looked awful, but she still smiled warmly as she hugged her nephews.

"Hey, how are you two doing?" She asked, "we're doing good," Frozen Cabbage replied.

"Where's Cornstalk Cookie?"

"After School program," Cabbage repeated.

"Are you ok, Auntie Spinach?" Frozen Zucchini worried.

She coughed and kissed him on the forehead, "No not really, but I'll be fine, don't worry."

Frozen Cabbage always loved his Aunt and her motherly warmth, he never told his brothers, but he would honestly rather have his aunt and uncle over his parents, at least it felt like they were around.

"Just keep resting and you'll be better, I'll make sure of it," Herb told her, she smiled lovingly at him, "I swear, you worry about me more times than I tell people to eat vegetables, but thank you, honey."
