Introduction

Alexis

Life didn't have to be a flower garden, and frankly, it never was. I've been educated for 14 years about so called magic. Did I believe in it? I did not. My Academy thought that showing magic was a way of abusing it's power, so we only read about it at school. Suspicion has grown in me for a while now, and I've decided I would test if magic was really real.

The doors burst open as hundreds of armoured men entered the building. Screams, including my own, were let out and feet could be heard scurrying away. Amongst the chaos,  a hooded figure could be seen talking to their men, instructing them about something. I hid behind a misplaced cabinet, and squinted at the group forming in the main hall. Whispering turned into shouts as an individual spotted me peeking my head out of my hiding place. Trying hard not to make noise, I quickly ran away from the academy, hearing footsteps thundering behind me. That didn't discourage my speed, and I ran faster across the gardens.

I had a plan to expose this school of fraud by challenging them of their magic. I had grabbed everyone's attention and brought them to the main hall to show the students if magic was or was not real, but there was an attack on the school, and now probably every person in that building thinks I set them up to die.

I felt my legs tiring, but I kept sprinting as far away as I could. Finally, when I was sure no one was chasing me anymore, I let my legs collapse on the grassy meadows of Georgia.

I vaguely registered my body lightly hitting the grass out of exhaustion. And I certainly didn't know of a man dragging my legs into a cabin, speaking of one word.

"Traitor."
