Since the minute they left the restaurant, they'd been followed by a pair of suspicious black cars. At first, they thought nothing of it, as there were usually a lot of different cars around this part of LA. However, after an hour on the highway and three minutes at a rest area to change the babies, Jazzlyn was growing extremely concerned as to why they were still there. And how it was possible they'd taken every turn and exit the same. As she exited the restroom, she noticed one of the suspicious black cars had it's window rolled down and, immediately, she went into flight mode. "Harry, hurry get in the car," she urged, frantically, taking baby Fizzy from his arms. She held Fizzy close to her chest and pushed Harry along from behind. "Come on, we've got to get going."
Harry scoffed, a bit surprised, and spoke over his shoulder, "Jazz, what is going on?"
"I'll explain later, just go," she commanded, shoving him into the limo. She buckled Fizzy into her car seat then, climbed into the limo and peered out the back. The suspicious car had rolled up its window and started its engine. Jazzlyn's eyes widened. "Tim, drive," she plead, frantically. Tim complied and pulled away but, as he did, so did the suspicious cars. Jazzlyn's heart pounded in her chest. "This isn't good," she breathed, softly, pulling out her phone.
Louis looked to Harry and raised a brow. Harry shrugged and shook his head. Louis frowned and looked back to Jazzlyn. "What is going on, Jazz?" he asked, a bit on edge.
"Paparazzi," she said, sternly, grabbing her phone from her purse. Harry and Louis' eyes widened. They watched out the back window, as a group of cars followed them out of the rest stop and onto the highway. Tim sped up, so did they. Tim changed lanes. So did they. Harry and Louis met each other's eyes and interlocked fingers. They could feel each other's pulses pounding in their palms. Jazz sighed then when the call connected, said, "Yeah, Brett, it's me. We've got company." Jazzlyn paused and looked out the back window then said, "Looks like three." She nodded along to the person on the other end then, said, "As soon as you can, thanks," before ending the call.
After a moment of silence, Harry asked, "Jazz, what's going on?"
Jazzlyn shook her head. "I don't know," she admitted, sheepishly. She glanced out the back window again and saw that, though they'd been passed by a few other cars and were now further back than before, the Paparazzi was still tailing them. "But if I had to guess..." she sighed, heavily, turning back to Harry and Louis. "...I'd say they're not happy about the story you just told and either want to get you to redact what you said or, worst case, cover it up."
"Cover it up?" Louis frowned. "What does that mean? You don't think they'll—"
Jazzlyn shrugged. "I don't know what their plan is," she sighed. "All I know is that paparazzi are vicious and will do just about anything for a headline."
Louis looked back out the window. The cars had crept up behind them again. "Are—are you sure those aren't just some random cars going exactly where we're going?" he asked, nervously. "I mean, isn't it possible they've just got the same destination as we do? There are a lot of cars on this road."
"But to make every turn, exit and stop that we have?" Jazzlyn reminded, cautiously, glancing back out the window. And as the group of suspicious cars started to speed up, and weave through traffic, behind them, she got her answer. Her eyes widened. "Not likely," she said, hurriedly, climbing to the front of the limo. She tapped on the glass separator, gaining Tim's attention. Tim rolled down the glass and, before it even passed her nose, Jazzlyn, called to him. "Take any turn and make as many circles as you can," she breathed, urgently. "I don't care how you get rid of them, just do it." Tim nodded and sped up.
Jazzlyn made her way back to the boys and took her seat. "This is about to get dicey."
Louis snickered. "Since when are we in an action movie?"
