A FEW WEEKS LATER...

"...and then, the little duckling ran away. For you see, he didn't think he fit in with the other ducklings..." Harry read each line of the Ugly Duckling with a dramatized whisper. He used the tips of his toes to keep the chair rocking, rhythmically, afraid that if he stopped, he'd wake the babies. "...well, you see, that's because the duckling didn't know he wasn't a ducking ..." On his left shoulder, Carson had already fallen asleep. On his right, Fizzy's fought to keep her eyes open, as she listened to Harry read. "...no, he wasn't. That's because he was a beautiful swan..." Harry paused a moment, to listen to Carson's tiny, soft snores whistled against his neck. A warmth came over him and he closed his eyes, snuggling against Carson's head, taking in the moment as long as possible. Then, he kissed Carson's head and returned to the story, "...and not just any swan. No, this swan could dance and put on a show for everyone around to come see..." He stopped again, feeling Fizzy go limp against his shoulder, and smiled, warmly. He kissed the top of her head then, whispered, "...and that, Babes, is why we always treat others with kindness because you should never judge someone before you get to know them."

After taking another moment to assure they were asleep, Harry nodded to himself then, closed the book and set it aside he stopped the rocking chair with his foot and cradled each twin in their perspective arms then, scooted himself to the edge of the chair and calculated the best way to stand, without disrupting them. It was then he heard a soft knock at the nursey door and glanced up to see Louis, standing in the doorway, staring at him with a fondness in his eyes. "Would you like some help?" Louis chuckled, softly.

Harry nodded, "Please."

Louis grinned, brightly, then, carefully pealed Carson off Harry's shoulder but, as soon as he did, Carson's eyes flashed open. He stopped and held Carson against his chest, rubbing his back, in circles, and bouncing in place. He hummed softly and gave a gentle "shhh, shhh, shhh," until Carson's eyes fell shut. Then, he stealthy crossed the room and rocked Carson in his arms, as he lowered the sleeping baby into his crib. He kissed the tips of his first two fingers and pressed them against Carson's nose, whispering, "Goodnight, Lad."

Meanwhile, Harry cradled Fizzy in his arms, as he stood from the chair. Bouncing her gently and caressing his fingers in a circle pattern on her back, he crossed over to Fizzy's crib and then, carefully, lowered her down. Once she hit the mat, Fizzy gave a startled jump and her eyes flashed open but Harry jumped in, quickly, running his fingers, gently, along the side of her face. Within a short moment, the baby girl closed her eyes and fallen back to sleep. But just to be sure, Harry kept a hand on Fizzy's chest, softly shushing, until her breath relaxed, and he could finally step away with a whispered, "Goodnight, Little Miss."

Harry stood up then, tiptoed back across the room and met Louis at the door. They both looked back at the sleeping babies, admiring them a moment then, exited into the hallway; Louis first, Harry closing the door—but leaving it cracked—behind him. As the two made their way down the hall, Harry reached out and took Louis by the waist. Louis glanced over his shoulder, flashing a grin, and reached his hands, behind his back, taking Harry by the waist. Harry smiled and buried his face in Louis' neck. "Did I ever say thank you?" he asked, breathlessly, kissing just under Louis' nose.

Reaching the living room, Louis stopped at the couch and turned to face Harry. He put his hands around Harry's shoulder, interlocking his fingers behind Harry's head, and caressed the back of Harry's neck with his thumbs. "For what?" he asked, gazing fondly into Harry's eyes.

Harry took Louis by the waist, interlocking his fingers behind Louis' back, and swayed back and forth. "For making me the happiest man in the world," he said.

Louis rolled his eyes and moaned, playfully, "Uggh, that's such a trendy thing to say." He flashed a cheeky grin then, rested his head against Harry's chest and let out a sigh, "But I couldn't agree more." Harry buried his nose in Louis' hair and pressed a kiss to the top of his head then, pulled Louis in closer and rested his chin on the top of Louis' head. Louis snuggled deeper into Harry's chest and closed his eyes. For a moment, they continued to sway together, keeping this moment as long as they could, until Louis turned his gaze to Harry and said, "I'm going to have a smoke outside, you want to sit with me?"
