"Shit, shit, shit, I'm gonna be late," I scrambled to grab my heavy bag filled with supplies, a laptop, pencils, notebooks, and a pencil sharpener. I grabbed my keys and a coat just in case it got cold in the classroom, I could feel something fluffy on my leg, causing me to look down. It was my cat Salem. I kneeled down and gently pet him, feeling him arch his backside into my hand.
"Hey there, Salem. I wish I could stay longer but I have to leave." I said sorrowfully, receiving a disappointed meow in return. I got Salem when he was just a kitten, ever since then he's been my companion since I live alone, I've been contemplating on getting another black cat so maybe he wouldn't be as lonely.
I stood back up and grabbed a rubber band, pulling my hair up into a man bun, leaving some dreads in the back. I walked to the door, opening it and stepping outside, closing it behind me. I locked the door and began my journey down the flights of stairs, heading out to my car. I unlocked it and got in. I placed my phone into the cup holder of my car and turned it on. Before i began to pull out I heard my phone vibrate. I grabbed it and saw one new message from Mi amor ❤️ I didn't want to open the message yet since I had to be at college in 20 minutes, I told myself I'd open it at the red light. I backed out of the parking spot and began driving on the road.
I pulled up to a red light and finally picked up my phone. Before I turned it on, I got a very bad feeling in my stomach, it felt like I wanted to throw up. I knew something wasn't right but I proceeded to open the message anyways.
'Hey, I think we should just be friends'
This is very sudden, though somehow I wasn't really affected by it, I replied.
'Oh okay, that's sudden but alright.'
I looked up as the light turned green, I put my phone back down and began driving. I could hear my phone start to vibrate. I was being spammed.
'Who the hell is spamming my phone?'
I was a bit annoyed. Soon, I arrived at the college. I parked my car and got out, grabbing my phone locking the door afterwards. I finally turned my phone on. It was from 'Matthew' I didn't talk to him much but we still kept in contact. I went through the messages while making my way into the building. The anxiety inside was rising steadily. Something isn't right.
'Please call me when you can, it's important. I can't keep this to myself anymore.'
I gripped my phone and headed to the Janitors closet, opening it and looking around before heading in and closing the door behind me. I called.
~ The call ~
'Hello? What is it? What's wrong Matthew?' I asked.
'I can't keep holding this, it's killing me and I can't keep it in anymore.'
My gut began to wrench.
'Spit it out. Matthew.'
'Tyler is cheating on you with Lucus. Lucus was gloating to me and saying how he took your boyfriend with ease. He talked so much shit about you, He was telling me like he was flexing about it.'
It was a long silence, it felt like the whole world had just stopped. My heart sank.
'Are you serious?' I asked.
'I'm dead ass, he told me not to tell you but I couldn't help it. You deserved better, so much better. Jackson. I can't stay on call but I had to tell you.'
I held it.
'Thank you for telling me, your a real one.'
Hold it.
