Dropping the last box from the kitchen in the u-hall, I look up at the scorching hot sun thinking about how much I'm actually going to miss the heat in California.
The sound of my sister's skateboard knocks me out of my thoughts, "Are you driving with the demon spawn or mom?" An annoyed voice asked as she stopped her board from hitting my feet.
"If you mean Billy, then yeah I'm riding with him" I replied while rolling my eyes at her nickname for him.
"Why, I wanna ride with you" she complains as if she would choose to drive with our mom and her new husband.
"Ok, we'll then ride with me and Billy, we don't really care" I say, annoyed walking away from her. I get in my step-brother's 1979 Chevrolet Camaro Z/28, before slamming the car door, and watching him lock the u-hall. Turning my head as a door slams behind, I see Max using the running man I got her for her birthday.
You see we've only known Billy and his dad for a year before our parents decided to get hitched. When they went on their honeymoon we were stuck in a 3 bedroom house that barely had space for both a kitchen and living room.
While Max decided that she hated Billy and was going to do everything in her power to stay away from him, I decided to get to know him. At first it was tuff and weird, but once he realized I wasn't going anywhere, he let me in. Turns out we're more alike than we originally thought, or maybe we're nothing alike and just share the issue of getting pissed off easily.

"How far are we Bills?" I asked as we pulled up to the "welcome to Hawkins" sign,"never mind. . ."
I have to stop asking dumb question, god.
The road was dark and our parents were behind us. We drove a few minutes before actually seeing some of the stores in town, then we hit the houses.
House, after house, after house, I was getting annoyed with the amount of houses we were passing.
God, Can I get out of this car already?
We passed a high school and a few kids were walking, or cycling home. At the end of the road was a tan blond and a brown skinned brunette, they looked like complete opposites, definitely a duo.
They turned and stared as our car passed by, showing off the cheer uniform the blond was wearing and the huge case the brunette was holding.
What instrument does she play? Mm I don't care.

Time seemed to stop as I made eye contact with the freckled redhead in the passenger seat, his bright red hair was blowing in the wind coming from the driver side window, and his thumb was pushing down on his ring finger.
His whole hand was decorated in rings, and he had a singler chain with a cross on his neck. He looked at Ana's gatare case and shook his head before the car turned the corner.
"I call dibs" I shout as Joana grabs my arm,
"I didn't want him but go you" she replies with a perfect raised eyebrow,
I let out a breath-y sorry and Interlock our arms, "how is it going with you and mystery boy, hm?"
"Fine I guess, are you ready for your birthday?"
I opened my mouth to answer the question but before I could, my idiot brother, Steve pulled up "hey, ladies need a ride", Ana looked at me before shrugging her shoulders and opening the passenger seat door.
Normally I would yell at someone for making me sit in the back, but as this has kept occurring throughout the week I've tended to let it go. Honestly I wouldn't be surprised if my brother was the mystery guy Joana's been messing with.
I hope he's not, because if he is we're going to have a major problem.
Ana was my best friend, and had been since she moved to Hawkins in 5th grade. Steve was my big brother, sure we were half siblings but he never made it feel like that. We shared a mom, but not a dad, Steve's bio dad was out of the picture leaving our dad to raise him. He acts like he's so much older than us, but in reality he was only a year older.
