"you like him, don't you?" ian whispered, his hand still on serenity's wrist, stopping her from opening the door. "what are you talking about?" she whispered back, dropping her hand from the doorknob.
ian sighed, running a hand through his hair before crossing his arms and leaning on the doorway. "i'm talking about lip."
the blonde let out a laugh, covering her mouth, quieting herself quickly. "you've got to be kidding me. me? having a thing for phillip gallagher? i know better than that," she shook her head, looking down at the pairs feet.
"well i don't know, by the way you looked when he was talking about karen and maybe the fact you were basically drooling at him while v was helping out that steve guy," ian said, shrugging, "thought you might have a thing for my brother."
ren furrowed her brow, "i'm not that desperate for a guy's attention, wouldn't stoop that low."
"come on, he's not that bad," the redhead laughed quietly, "i just don't want you getting hurt."
"don't worry, there is no attraction toward him from me," the girl said, sending ian a smile, "good, now let's go to bed, i'm exhausted," ian said, opening the door and heading straight for the bed. ren followed behind him, taking her place next to him, listening to the faint snores of carl in the bed across from them and the faint moans and crashes downstairs. soon enough she heard ian's breathing go steady, notifying her he had fallen asleep.
her eyes were closed, a noise coming from the bunk lip had rightfully called his own. the sound of rustling sheets and a pair of feet softly hit the ground, "serenity. hey. are you up?" lip's soft voice filled the room.
ren slowly opened her eyes, lip standing in front of her, "sorta hard to sleep when fiona and that steve guy are destroying the kitchen," she whispered back, "what do you want from me."
"uh, do you have a light, or know where one is. can't find mine," lip reached and scratched the back of his neck, showing her the joint, and tucking it behind his ear. "theres one in ian's top drawer," she pointed, letting out a small yawn.
lip nodded, rummaging through ian's drawer, pulling out a lighter, "bingo," he muttered. ren watched him closely, the moon shining on his face just right. "whatcha thinkin' about," he said, opening the window a tiny crack, lighting and taking a hit off his joint, "whatever you and ian were talking about out there?"
the girl breathed in sharply, "no, just thinkin about that steve guy, weird don't you think?" she said, sitting up carefully, trying not to wake ian. "nah, probably just another one of fiona's hookups, seems like a cool guy i guess," he shrugged as he watched ren get off the bed and walk over to him, holding out her hand.
his eyes darted down to her hand and then back to her, "you don't smoke."
"so? you do, let me try."
"no. just because i do doesn't mean shit."
"whatever, was worth a shot i guess," she said, looking out the window, admiring the moon. "look at how big the moon looks tonight, incredible."
lip chuckled and looked over at her quickly, "you're such a nerd, y'know that? all the space shit you always talk about."
"okay mr. straight a's, you're one to talk," she jokingly rolled her eyes, scoffing. "yeah, yeah. go get to bed, you look exhausted," lip said before taking another hit of his joint.
"yeah, goodnight," ren said, nudging lip gently, "have fun smoking your joint," she yawned, taking back her place on ian's bed, closing her eyes, "night, ren," she heard him mumble.
