War sighed in annoyance as his alter form was relieved of his ring. The point of their little charade was to get their humans to do their dirty work for them. War, as the oldest, was going first, and it irritated him to downplay his abilities, so he'd just sent a minion with his ring out, and soon the Winchesters took the bait. Still he couldn't help, but feel a spark of interest as he looked at the younger Winchester brother. War knew torture, so he knew the scars on the older ones soul well, but the younger one, he had a very bright soul. Scarred with recent betrayal and bleeding from raw trauma, but it was unusually bright, and he couldn't help the way he watched it in interest. He would have to meet this Sam Winchester, he mused.
Sam sighed as wiped down his face with water. He stared into the mirror tiredly, as he contemplated the last few days. He couldn't help the guilt rising in him as he realized that everything that happened was his fault. He remembered Dean bluntly telling him he didn't trust him anymore, and Sam sighed again. He startled visibly when he walked out of the bathroom only to see a man waiting for him in his room. Immediately Sam pulled out a gun, aiming threateningly at the man.
"Who are you?!" Sam demanded.
"Sam Winchester," the man mused, staring at him through red tinted sunglasses silently, "Your soul is very bright," the man smiled.
"What?" Sam blurted out dumbly.
"Your soul," the man clarified, "Despite the trauma, the recent betrayals and the guilt, your soul is the most beautiful I've seen since Jesus," he admired.
"Who are you?" Sam repeated.
"Oh, yes sorry," he apologized holding out his hand as he introduced himself, "War, the real War mind you," he grinned.
"The horsemen?" Sam asked, pale as he gulped in fear. They'd gotten lucky last time, and if that was just a cheap copy, then he could be even more powerful.
"Yes, I apologize for the subterfuge," he winced, "I can't be seen going against Lucifer so blatantly," he explained.
"You're against Lucifer?" Sam piped up, dubiously.
"Yes, I can't exactly do what I do best if there's no war in the first place," he told him bluntly, "Or that's what Pestilence argues," he joked, "In reality I just kind of like humanity, it's refreshing to find species so weak, yet so powerful," he complimented.
"Powerful?" Sam questioned, confused.
"No matter what happens, you never give up, it's something no other species does," he admitted, "Maybe we're smarter, or maybe you're just braver," he mused.
"why are you here?" Sam asked bluntly.
"I wanted to see the owner of such a beautiful soul," he flirted.
"You what?" Sam blurted out, blushing slightly.
"Coffee and a movie?" he suggested with a teasing grin.
"Are you asking me out on a date?" Sam questioned, incredulously.
"It's not like we're going to get married, it's just a date," War assured. Sam hesitated, "Fine, but only because I've got nothing better to do," Sam sighed in resignation.
"You won't regret this, Sam," War promised.
"I already am," Sam muttered as War held his arm out. Sam grabbed onto it reluctantly, and they vanished from the hotel room.

Sam stared at the wall, shocked. He'd just had sex with War. Granted it was great sex, he admitted, but he was still a little stunned.
Then again, he admitted, they'd technically been going on dates every other day for a few weeks. Sam had always fallen hard and fast, and Dean had joked that he was a love at first sight kind of guy. Still, to fall for the living embodiment of War felt like betrayal after Ruby, it felt like he was doing something wrong.
"What are you thinking?" War murmured as he rolled over to face him, sightless eyes staring at him curiously as he cocked his head to the side.
"Ruby," Sam admitted, almost relieved that he could be so honest with him.
"You know how to figure out if this is like that?" War began suddenly, "You have to ask yourself one question, and be completely honest with yourself," he warned him, "Do I ever ask for something you don't want to give?" He asked him bluntly.
"Ruby wasn't-" his mouth opened to deny the implications, but paused as he thought about it. Ruby had manipulated him, he admitted to himself, she had strung him along for his want for revenge. She'd fed him blood saying it would give him power and than lured him into sleeping with her. Despite his protests, he had eventually given because he was an addict, and that was what addicts did. He'd thought he'd loved her because he stayed, but it was just addiction.
"Ruby used you," War told him gently, eyes sympathetic, "I know you probably won't believe me, but everything I have told you is the truth," he promised, "I have never lied to you, and I never will," he vowed.
"I know," Sam admitted, "I'm just scared," he confessed, "I'm terrified that I'm falling for another monster."
"Falling, huh?" War smiled genuinely, "Guess we're both a little scared," he admitted, "I'm terrified that I'm going to lose you," he confessed.
"You won't lose me," Sam assured, pecking him on the lips. War smiled against the kiss holding him gently as if he was something precious as he looked at him in awe.
"I love you," he breathed out, "You don't have to say anything back, I just wanted you to know," he hurried to assure.
"I think I love you too," Sam admitted. War kissed him passionately, devouring his lips like it was ambrosia, and Sam moaned into the kiss.
"Thank you," War whispered.

"Dean," Sam piped up hesitantly as they drove away from Canton Ohio.
"Yeah?" Dean questioned with a slight smile.
"I want to tell you something, but you have to promise not to freak out until I've explained myself," he rushed out.
"Freak out?" Dean barked out warily, "What's there to freak out about?" he stated pointedly.
"I, uh, while we were separated, I kind of, uh, I started seeing someone," he admitted.
"Who?" Dean asked simply, remembering Ruby.
"It's not like Ruby, he has never asked me for anything, not even a favor" he defended.
"He?" Dean sounded surprised, but not disgusted, which was good.
"Yeah, uh, you know when we defeated War?" Sam began, wincing.
"Yeah?" Dean agreed, glancing at him hesitantly.
"That wasn't exactly War," Sam confessed bluntly. Dean slammed in the breaks as he pulled over onto the side of the highway.
"What do you mean it wasn't War?" Dean demanded.
"War, the real War, came to my hotel, and uh, he asked me out," Sam finished, sheepishly.
"And you said yes?" Dean asked incredulously.
"I had nothing better to do!" Sam defended weakly.
"Alright, you wanted to explained, explain," Dean barked out, glaring.
"He let us win our fight, he said he can't be seen helping openly, but he's against Lucifer," he rushed out, "He never brought up the apocalypse outside that," he assured, "we only talked about us," he admitted. Dean relaxed slightly, still suspicious.
"Can I meet him?" Dean coughed out awkwardly.
"If you want, I can give him a call," Sam offered.
"Yeah, I want to talk to him," Dean glared darkly out the window.
"He's not a bad guy," Sam tried.
"We'll see about that," Dean muttered.
