The wind howls crazily as I head to school. Although I breathe heavily while walking, I do not tilt once from the crazy wind.
Traffic starts getting worse but of course I would be the blame. Cars on the road could probably see me from a mile away...maybe even two. Drivers usher me to move quicker.
"Move faster, Fatty Patty! So SLOW! " a man hollers from his pink Chevy.
I strut and gleam with my head held high, "Okay sweet sir. Give me a minute or two!"
I give that little princess wave and stick out my tongue. I slowly rap to CL's Baddest Female and amble across like a pro. I know this is super corny, but it just seemed like the perfect moment to do so.
"Get lost!" he shouts again, "I'd run into you but you'd just run over my car!"
I walk away, finally striding through the crowds of students rushing to the school.
As I turn towards the building, I hear snickering.
"Oh, look! There comes Blubber Belly!"
I pause abruptly and sigh. I look at the stupid chicks, straightening my slumped posture.
"Uh, what did you just say?" I ask in a very low, irritated tone.
The girls giggle and butt bump each other, thinking they were successful in getting me upset.
"Uh...nothing. All I called you was Blubber Belly. Anything not true 'bout that?" Chung Young responds, putting on a fake and charming smile.
Chung Young has been my sworn enemy for about three years now. Nothing has changed between her and I. She was one of those mean girls, you know, the ones who lead the "popular group" of hoe hoes?
Which...actually, hoe hoes are my favorite American snack, but still...whatever...let me get to the real point.
She's kind of like those girls in high school dramas and movies who are the prettiest and the skinniest and wealthiest and most popular. But she was like the real life version of those mean girls. Her attitude, look, confidence, and the way she did surgery. Man, she pulls off all those characteristics.
"Whatever," I say, walking past them.
"Aish! Whatever yourself," Chung Young says, flipping her long dyed blonde hair and taking her group of girls into the building, shoving me to the side.
She flashes her pink underwear, "proving" to me what a beauty she looked in that skimpy skirt.
Though I didn't mind, I looked at my "Blubber Belly" and then down at my skirt. My school uniform was made to fit me but to also cover me completely, like when graduate students wear those long gowns.
Mrs. Lee, the principal, told me, "You know you have to wear something to conserve your innocent and pure body. Nobody would want to see that..because that, you know, as a principal, I want you to be the good one."
I see her pointing her finger at me, sweetly mumbling and rolling her eyes in lies. My anger rises and my clogged blood starts to boil. My heart starts aching with hatred. It pops and shoots like fireworks with a malfunction...whatever that means.
"Mmm hmm...sure," I hear myself say out loud, sarcastically.
I shake my head and move toward my locker. I neatly organize the textbooks and then took out the ones I needed.
"Hey..ah! My Sunshine! My Golden Star! My beautiful Kwon Hye! "
"Mm?" I ask, skimming through my never-ending science notes.
"Don't be like that! Look at me!" Hoon smiles.
I continue to scan my notes, disregarding that Hoon was even there. I then face my locker and exhale again, feeling annoyed.
"Mmm, lady! Look at me..." Hoon hums, lightly strumming his fingertips up my right arm, "Oh girl, I need a girl..."
My face turns pale red. I nudge him away.
"Eh! Knock it off with your stupid aigoo!" I roar, "You know I only like it when Youngbae sings it!"
Hoon jumps up in surprise. The red cap on his dark brown curly hair falls onto the floor. He hides his right arm behind his back and picks up the cap with his left one.
"Huh? You okay?" Hoon questions, pouting his chapped lips.
I glare into his eyes.
We stare at each other for some moments longer, forgetting to look if others noticed or even cared to look at our locked gazes.
"Umm...you okay," he asks again, breaking a small sweat.
I glare deep into his eyes and grin evilly.
A few moments pass and I start to get tired. I close my eyes from the stinging dryness and yawn.
"Ah, ah, okay...what you want?" I question.
His kiddish energy returns. He throws a light punch below my shoulder.
"Nothing much. Just some love and notes. You know? Health homework stuff," Hoon says.
"Here," I dig through my bag and hand him the long notes, "But you have to start doing your own homework, loser."
He giggles and pats my head.
"Stop! I am not a dog!" I chuckle.
He pets my head again, "You know, my kind beautiful puppy! You deserve a treat!"
I pull his hand off and poke his belly hard, "You punk!"
"Here!" He shouts, grunting in pain while throwing me something with his right hand.
I catch what he throws at me. I look up to see him jogging down the hallway, chuckling in that kiddy laugh.
"Beautiful, that's for you! Thank you for the notes!" He screams sincerely.
His voice echoes throughout the entire hallway.
I did not smile nor make any movement. I just stood there, thinking and wondering about things while everyone around me gasp and scowl and shame us.
I finally hit reality and my blank thoughts became blank again. I gently slide the small, yellow gift bag into my backpack. I lock my locker in case anyone wanted to steal it.
My heart then jumps with joy. Not the love kind of joy. More like the friendship joy.
I beam brightly and march to my first hour class.
