Part 2
(Y/n and Eddie go to Lovers Lake)
_______________It felt like time was running slower now, excitement getting the best of me. My thought process was fully focused on the plans I had made with Eddie earlier, picturing us sitting on the edge of the dock at Lovers Lake.
He's showing me his sketches and I'm laughing about something he said before I'm looking down at the water below my feet while he's looking at me. I pretend like I can't tell and so he cups my jaw, lifting my face to look at him.
He smiles, eyes never leaving my face as he places his notebook behind him. He's slowly leaning in, taking his time to enclose the space between us before-
The loud sound of the annoying dismissal bell quickly stops my daydreaming. I jump out of my seat, frantically grabbing for my bag, being the first one out the door. I jog down the hallway to get to my locker as fast as I can, but somebody has already beaten me too it.
Leaning against my locker is the one and only, Eddie Munson, looking directly at me with a bright smile on his face. When I finally reach my locker, he moves away to give me space to open it.
I place my books in my bag and sling it over my shoulder, closing my locker. "You ready?" He pulls out his keys, spinning them around his pointer finger. "Yeah, just give me a second." I say. "Alright, I'll meet you in the parking lot." He nods before turning around and walking out the back entrance.
There's still a bunch of people roaming the halls, making it harder to find Steve. I turn to look down the main hall, my older brother and his friends laughing while walking towards the front entrance.
I catch up to them, gripping Steve's shoulder to stop him in his tracks. He turns around, facing me with a confused look on his face. "There you are, I tried looking for you." Obviously not hard enough. "Well, I have plans with a friend of mine, so you can just head home." I tell him, ready to turn away from him but he's grabbing my arm to stop me.
"What friend?" He emphasizes, eyelids pinching close in suspicion. "Just a girl friend, Steve. Chill out." I lie, noticing his change of temper. His grip still remains, looking me over with an uncertain look on his face. "Whatever, have fun." He finally says, letting my arm slip out of his hold.
I can't help but let out a sigh of relief, my slightly tense shoulders falling before I walk to the back entrance to meet Eddie in the lot. I spot his van when looking to my left, making my way to the right side of the vehicle. I look through the slightly stained window, making out the sight of an empty driver's seat.
I open the car door to see if my eyes had deceived me but, unfortunately, they hadn't. I hop in anyway, figuring I could just wait for him in the van. I mess around with the radio until I spot a plastic bag filled with mixtapes.
There were about 9, each of them having a heavy metal band label. I sort through them to find a tape, but the sound of the driver's side door opening takes my attention away from the bag in my lap.
Eddie's positioning himself in front of the wheel, lunchbox in hand. He sets it on the floorboard next to his feet before asserting his attention on me. Giving me a smile, he begins to start up the van, ready to finally leave school grounds.
Some time later, we're on the road, just minutes away from Lovers Lake. The low music of Eddie's selected mixtape suppressing a comfortable silence due to our lack of conversation. But before I'm able to stop myself, I break the silence with a wavering question.
