It was just another Tuesday at summer school, and Angel, Lily, Mara, and Julian were all in their usual spots.
"Today is so boring," Mara signed, stretching.
"It's always boring, today is no exception," Angel replied, laying their head on the desk. Julian reached over and patted Angel on the back.
"Only fifteen-ish minutes until lunch, you guys," they reassured the group. They all sighed and watched the clock intensely.
After fifteen minutes of playing on their phones as school videos played silently, Mrs.Sholtz finally stood up.
"If anyone wants to go to lunch, it's open now!" she announced. Gasping, all four jumped up and ran to go join the lunch line.
"What do you think is for lunch today?" Lily asked. In a deep, sexy man voice, Mara stated, "Human meat."
"Yo, what the fuck?" Angel giggled as they walked in.
"Has anyone seen Julian?" Lily asked, a cold feeling washed over them, realizing.
-Memories of previous weeks...-
The seat that the fluffy blonde had once occupied was completely empty, the sound of their contagious laughter had been silenced.
"C'mon girls, you know they've been gone.." Mara said sadly. The three grabbed their lunch in silence, the last words from Julian rang in their ears.
"See y'all tomorrow"
But tomorrow never came.
"We can't keep blaming ourselves for the accident," Angel said softly. Mara and Lily nodded in agreement.
"I just wish I didn't kick Julian's cold, lifeless corpse!" Lily sobbed to their lovers.
"It's okay, Lily. You thought that they were just playing dead," Mara replied while rubbing Lily's back comfortingly.
"Now, we should all get some sleep, we have a big show tomorrow," Angel said coldly as she walked away. Mara and Lily followed close behind her and got into their large bed meant for 4...or for 3 now.
------------------------------------------------
The morning rolled around and it was chaos to say the least. Lily was struggling to learn Julian's bass part and threw the bass on the flood.
"I'm sick of this shit Angel... The fans are going to realize that Julian is gone," Lily cried.
"No, they won't! And even if they do, we still have money we need to make!" Angel screamed back. Angel hasn't been taking Julian's death well, she was the closest to them after all.
"Guys, guys, please. Let's hug this out," Mara said pleaded, "We love each other."
"Fuck off, both of you," Lily screamed as they walked away from the stage.
"They'll be back by the time the show rolls around, they always are," Angel stated as they started practicing again.
---------------------------------------------------------
"It's time," Mara said with a shaking voice as she tapped her drum sticks together. The three of them stood on the dark stage nervously, waiting for the concert to start.
"In remembrance of Julian," Angel said softly as she got in position. The stage lit up and fans started screaming. Angel glanced at Lily and Mara...
"ONE, TWO, THREE, FOUR!"
The music for Buddy Holly, their hit single, started to play.
"What's with these homies dissin' my girl?" Angel started to sing. Just then, a voice boomed through the room.
"Why do they gotta front?" The voice was almost angelic. The whole band, and fans, were confused.
In that moment, Julian walked on stage. Julian... dressed as Jesus? Jesus imposter dropped it down and backed it up. The audience started making it rain, dollar bills all over Julian while they threw it back as Jesus. Their long hair glowed and their sandals shimmered under the spot light. Julian hit the whip-and-nae-nae as their grand finale for this beautiful performance. They walked off stage, meeting the others backstage. To Julian's surprise, Leane, Julian's mother, was backstage with them as well. Leane saw Julian and immediately jumped out of her seat to hug and praise her offspring.
"I'm so proud of you Julian! The way you represented the Bible through your dance was amazing and inspiring," she boasted," We should celebrate your performance, Julian!" She turned to the other three, who were sitting on the floor behind them. Lily, Angel, and Mara nodded in agreement.
"We should go to the Malt Shoppe, then," Leane exclaimed. So they all crammed into Leane's Honda Civic and headed to the Malt Shoppe. The Shoppe was filled laughter and smiles. Everyone was talking and enjoying their food. But there was one problem.
"Where did Leane and Angel go?" Mara asked and looked around. Lily, Mara, and Julian searched around the Malt Shoppe for the two hooligans. Julian opened the bathroom dooe and was instantly filled with disgust.
Leane and Angel were making out in the fucking bathroom, gross!
