Ch 8. Glimpse of the Past

In Ranbir's room
He entered his room restless. Rubbing his forehead and palms he walked up and down in his room. Ranbir drank a glass of water and sat on his bed and was trying to forget what he saw and not pay attention to the thoughts coming back to his mind. The fact that Prachi waited for Aditiya and hugged him when he arrived did hurt but the thought she was not bothered about him, not wanting to know his whereabouts killed him.

Vikram, Pallavi and Dida came to Ranbir not knowing what to say Vikram and Dida sat besides him on either sides, Pallavi just stood near the door.

Ranbir blabbering without listening to anything:-"dad! Prac.... Moved on.... No no... She didn't, she won't.
Vikram loudly screamed Ranbir's name to get him out of his thoughts and said, "firstly stop your assumption, talk to her for ones, and get a clear picture of everything. Instead of sitting hear all scared just go and ask all your questions".
Dida:-"he is right Ranbir. Go to her, hear her story, tell your truth and then we'll see what can be done".

Ranbir nodded and stood up to leave. He noticed his mother at the door who held her head down.
"I'll go and talk to Prachi and clear every single doubt and misunderstanding today itself", saying this he walked out of his room, past his mother, not bothering if she wanted to say anything.

In the hall
Aditiya:-"where are all Kohli family members"?
Prachi:-"Kohli family? They will be present somewhere here, afterall it's their party. Why are you looking for them all of a sudden"?
Aditiya:-"so I could meet them".
Prachi gave him a surprised look and said, "you came here to fix your alliance? I didn't know you were interested in Mr.Kohli".

"Ha! Ha! Ha! So funny..., Aditiya said sarcastically.
"Funny? No, I'm serious. And to be honest with you, I don't think this house is a good option. You can definitely find someone better", said Prachi as she chuckled. Aditiya shook his head and shared a laugh with Prachi.
Well but someone did not find it funny who overheard the light conversation.

Ranbir:- "seriously? This house is not the best I get it but Aditiya and me? Really?
I guess it's not a good idea to talk right now, but when then? Yes! After the cake cutting I'll ask dad to keep this stupid security guard busy and then I'll talk to Prachi.
Cake! let me get the cake".

Ranbir went and got the cake in the hall, grabbing everyone's attention he called dida, Vikram and Pallavi forward.

The birthday song was sung, dida cut the cake and fed the three family members near her. She started to loo for Prachi and when she saw her, she took a step to go to her and feed the cake but Ranbir stopped her saying "not right now".

Ranbir had already told Vikram to keep Aditiya busy and he was doing so. Taking the opportunity Ranbir held Prachi's hand and took her to the backyard.

In the backyard
Prachi:-"Mr.Kohli what the hell are you doing? Leave my hand".
Ranbir leaving her hand said, "I want to talk to you".
"you could tell me this inside. There was no need for you to get me here like this. Adi will be looking for me, I need to go".

Prachi started to go back, Ranbir came infront of her and pleaded to stop, "Prachi please I need to talk to you about us, only ones, just ones listen to me".
"but I don't want to. I don't want to remember what I've forgotten, I don't want to talk about my painful past. That nightmare is over", said Prachi sternly.
It hurt Ranbir as Prachi used the word nightmare to describe her past, but he too knew she was not wrong.

Ranbir:-"Prachi, I know I have hurt you a lot, my family has hurt you a lot but please give a chance atleast to explain myself, to hear what you have been through this one year so I can fix everything".
Prachi giving up:-"you want to know what happened in the past one year with me, who is Adi to me, how we met... Fine, I'll tell you but on the condition that there won't be any further discussion or questions on this".

As there was no choice other than agreeing Ranbir said yes to the condition.
Prachi trying not to get emotional recalled the past one year and began to tell her story.

Flashback
Soon all the sound turned into silence, the guest had left and the family proceeded to their respective rooms, when all the lights were out Prachi took the opportunity and snuck out of the house without looking back. She had no clue where she'll go but one thing she was certain of, she won't be staying in the house which had only pain to give.

Prachi walked on the street thinking where to go. After seeing both sides of road she was crossing the road when suddenly she started feeling dizzy. Within few seconds she was lying on the road unconscious. She was lucky that it was almost midnight and not a busy road, few vehicles that were passing stopped.

People gathered around looking at what has happened, talking about the incident, some thinking of what to do others waiting for someone else to help.
Waiting for the other to help led to nothing except creating traffic.

A man getting late to reach his destination irritatedly got out of his car to check what has happened. The site shocked him.
"Prachi", he exclaimed. He tried to see if she had any wounds and tapped on her cheeks and called out her name several times.

"she is not hurt just fainted", said one voice from the crowd.
"if she has only fainted what took y'all so long to sprinkle some water or provide help", questioned the man.

Without wasting any more time he carried Prachi to his car and asked the driver to drive back home.
"sir, if we go home you'll miss your flight".
"hell with your flight, can't you see Prachi is not well, drive home now".

He called their family doctor and asked to come when even after sprinkling some water on Prachi she didn't gain back her conscious.
