Once Taehyung was confident that he could stay somewhat composed, he stayed in Seokjin's hospital room everyday.
He slept there. He would eat breakfast, lunch, and dinner there. He tried his hardest to continue with his school, only being able to finish a few classes a week. He worked on the important stuff, sometimes not having enough time to finish even that. But he tried.
Jimin, Jungkook, and the others would come by often, each one taking turns bringing anything Taehyung needed.
Taehyung practically lived at the hospital now, after all.
His friends tried to convince him to come home for at least a few days, to have a break, maybe relax for a little while.
But he always refused.
No. His Hyung had never left him, so he would do the same. He would protect his hyung just like the other had done for him his whole life.

A hard thump. Loud screeching of tires that shook Taehyung to his core.
Someone screamed his brother's name.
"I-I'm sorry. I... I didn't see the y-young man. I'm... I'm s-so s-sorry."
"Is he breathing? Tell me if he's breathing, Jimin!"
Jungkook's tear filled eyes, hands grasping Namjoon's arm with terror.
Police sirens. A stretcher being lifted from the ground.
"He's gone."
Taehyung gasped awake, his heart racing. He looked aroumd frantically before realizing he was back in the hospital room, Seokjin laying in the bed, motionless like always.
It had been this way for six months now.
Taehyung sniffed, feeling a dampness on his face when he lifted a hand, realizing that he was grasping Jin's hand with his other.
Tears ran down his cheeks, unable to be stopped.
Ever since he was little, only two things could stop his tears when it came to nightmares.
The first was the very person that lay in the bed before him. Seokjin was always the best at comforting. Whether it was because Taehyung had just been bullied about his phone, or because he'd just had a bad dream, Seokjin had always been there for him.
The second was his grandma. If she saw her young grandson crying, she'd immediately call him over in her gentle voice, telling him to lay his head on her lap. And then she would sing. And she wouldn't just sing any old song, she would sing the special lullaby that had been written solely for the purpose of comforting the two young boys that she loved so much.
And after singing to him, she would say:
"It's okay to cry. Cry all you need, and your tears will turn to honey. The honey will taste sweet, but that sweetness could never compare to the sweetness of the love that those around you have for you. Always remember how much I love you, my little winter bear."
The memory made Taehyung smile sadly. Tears escaped his eyes, dripping down his flushed cheeks and to his chin. He wrapped his fingers around his brother's hand and rested his forehead against it. He exhaled, warm breath brushing against the older's cold skin. He began to sing.
"... She looks like a blue parrot
would you come fly to me?
I want some good day, good day, good day
good day, good day.looks like a winter bear, you sleep so happily
I wish you a good night, good night, good nightgood night, good night.
imagine your face, say hello to me
then all the bad days, they're nothing to me
with youwinter bear
ooh, ooh, ooh
sleep like a winter bear
ooh, ooh, ooh,
sleep like a winter bear..."
He finished the lullaby and sighed deeply.
He placed a soft peck on Jin's hand.
"I miss you so much, Seokjin-hyung," he said softly, and the room fell silent again.
He kept his hold on Jin's hand, forehead resting against it.
Suddenly, he felt movement that wasn't his own.
His head snapped up, eyes wide.
"Hyung?" He whispered.
He felt the movement again, this time more clearly. The faintest squeeze of his hand.
Could this finally be it? After so many months of waiting, could it finally be the day?
He stood up, finding the emergency call button on the side of the bed and pressing it frantically.
He sat back down and squeezed Jin's hand tightly.
"They're coming, Hyung. They'll be here soon."
