"You're perfect"

"Hey, there." I say, a smile taking over my face. It felt so good that he was here to see me. Well, technically he's here to pay for yesterday, but still. It was nice.

Feeling a new found confidence, I lean against the counter, comfortably. "I'm really sorry about how I presented that, back there." I say, softly, trying to mask my voice. He shrugs, dismissing it, and looks at my nose.

I avert my gaze, and place my hand over my nose. "So how is it?" He clears his throat then asks. "How's what?" I ask. My eyes find his again, and I can't help but stare when I see how green they are. Is it possible to be so attractive?

His finger lifts to point at his own nose, and I chuckle, lightly. "It's pretty bad." He nods, wincing. "But not as bad as falling off of the chair in front of you." I say, my face growing hot as I state the obvious.

"That wasn't bad, it was great!" He says, his eyes lighting up. "And don't sweat it, I'm just as awkward." He whispers to me, but I shake my head. "No, trust me, you're perfect."

Oh no. Oh no, oh no, oh no. Please tell me I didn't just say that. "Eesh." Marissa mumbles behind me. I look up to see his response of shock, surprise, or even horror, but the boy just turns the corners of his mouth into a smile. He probably gets it all the time, so he isn't fazed by it.

"Sorry." I mutter, wringing my hands in front of my bright red uniform. There was my chance, and I blew it again. Sorry, God. "No, it is I who should be apologizing to you, for not paying yesterday." He says, breaking the silence before it reaches a point of awkward that I doubt either of us has been before.

He reaches into his back pocket and hands me a 5 dollar bill. "Uhh, this is too much. It was only $2.50." I say in response, but his out sent palm signifies that I keep it. "Go buy yourself another Icee." He replies with a smirk. My eyes widen, but he just laughs. "I saw you drinking it after we talked earlier." He pauses, "More like inhaling it."

I narrow my eyes at him in a teasing manner and he sticks his tongue out at me. "Just teasing ya." Shaking my head, I put the $5 into the cash register. I begin to grab my stuff, getting ready to leave, since it's the end of my shift too.

"Are you out in the lot?" He asks, motioning his head towards the double doors to our right. I nod, coming out from behind the counter. "Cool, me too." He says, grinning, and walking side by side with me. A huge smile makes its way onto my face, as well, when I look to my left and see such a handsome guy walking with me.

Maybe I didn't blow it. Maybe I could do things right. He still seems pretty willing to be near me. I can't possibly make things weirder than I already have. It's worth a shot.

We walk alongside each other, silently, until I reach my car in the dark. He slows down, but starts back pedaling to the other side of the street, keeping his eyes on mine.

"Hey," I call out, "what's your name?" He stops then says, "Daniel, and yours, pretzel girl?" "Addison." I reply, keeping my gaze fixed on him. He nods, keenly, and starts back pedaling again, while fiddling with his keys.

"See you tomorrow,  Addison."
