A/N This is a one-shot! It's not necessarily Oumota, but if you want you can imagine it is <3

This is 3rd Person Perspective.

———————

It was cold, the air smelt like blood and machinery, the only sounds were harsh breathing and the small steps Ouma took towards the Hydraulic Press. They were almost done, all that was left was for Ouma to get under the Press and for Momota to kill him.

Kill him, The idea made him sick to the stomach, but he has to do this. It's what Ouma wanted, and Momota owed him for saving his life.

Not to mention Maki, if he didn't do this...

He took a deep breath, standing near the camera and the button, the button that would put Ouma out of his misery. The one that would give him a badge that said "Murderer" on it, that he would never be able to remove because it would be sewed deep into his skin for everyone to see.

"Kaito are you listening? Ge–", Ouma paused to take deep breaths coughing a little. This, of course, sent a wave of panic through Momota, he was terrified the poison had gotten to him first.

"Ko– Kokichi? Shit!", He was about to turn and run down the stairs, maybe beg Kokichi to find another way, a way he wouldn't die, but kokichi stopped him. "Idiot! Stay where you are! Get back to the control panel.", Right after he went back into a fit of bloody coughs, it was as if they were mocking Kaito. Reminding him of the little time they had left.

After a while, they went completely silent, both lost in thought with no idea what the other could be thinking about. Soon enough Kaito broke the silence.

"Kokichi, What do you regret?", It was Random, but it made Kokichi think. What did he regret? He's done horrible, horrible things, and of course, he regretted it all but if he said everything he regret doing they'd be here all day. He doesn't have all day.

He silently pondered, trying hard to ignore the excruciating pain that lingered in his back and arm.

"Gonta. I–", he paused. He took deep breaths and squeezed his eyes closed, frustrated and in pain. He was struggling to form the most basic sentences. "I regret—I regret what I did to Gonta". He'd finally said it.

Kaito stared at him, they all knew how it went with Gonta. It was horrible, everyone knew he didn't deserve what he had gotten. It almost enraged Kaito, how could he say he regrets that? Who did he think he was?

But at the same time, he understood, so he simply nodded and leaned against the control panel. "If things go wrong...what would you like me to tell them?".

Kokichi laughed, it turned into a wheeze shortly after but Kaito was happy he could laugh even in a situation like this.

"Well hypothetically if it does fail, which it won't," he started coughed but still finishes his sentence. "I want you to tell them I was a horrible person, evil to the core."

Kaito was taken aback, why would he want that? To be portrayed as a horrible person in the minds of everyone.

"Why?"

Kokichi stared at the top of the press, "Then they won't—they won't–". He stopped talking and took a few deep breaths. "It doesn't matter why Kaito. You're asking too many unimportant questions."

After that, they went back to being silent. The cold air made them both shiver, they'd have to wrap this up soon or else everything would go to waste. Kaito wasn't done yet though.

Can you tell me more about yourself? The real you, not your persona.", he wanted to know a bit more about Kokichi, before he lost the chance.

Kokichi sighed, "You sound stupid Kaito."

Yet Kokichi did exactly as he asked, he told Kaito almost everything. From his height to the fact he has a sister, his true thoughts on certain things, things he kept secret. All in 20 minutes, he poured his heart out to Kaito, and Kaito listened to his every word.

By the time kokichi finished a thought ran through Kaito's mind, maybe, just maybe, in another life, they could have been great friends.

"Thank you for sharing with me Kokichi", he whispered hoping Kokichi had heard.

"You're not that bad Space i–idiot", was the response he got.

It was finally time, they couldn't stall any longer, they couldn't ponder or hope anymore, they had to continue what they started.

His heart pounded in his chest as he adjusted the camera and his hand hovered over the start button.

He had one last question.

"Kokichi?"

"W-What now Kaito"

"Do you think...", He paused and gave Kokichi a shaky smile. "Do you think you'll ever get to touch the stars?"

Silence hung in the air

Kaito watched as Kokichi turned his head to look at him, his skin sickly pale and his breathing more labored than before. Kokichi looked deep in thought, Kaito wondered if he was looking for an answer that wouldn't hurt him.

Although, Kaito knew, that no matter what Kokichi's answer was, it would make his heart ache even more.

Kokichi had yet to speak, maybe he didn't want to answer, Kaito was fine with that. He'd accept that—

"Yeah...I think I will Kaito."

Kaito, with a heavy heart, Kaito pushed the button and the camera simultaneously, watching as it went down slowly. Just before it reached Kokichi's chest he spoke out to him one more time.

"I'm sure they'll shine brighter than ever Kokichi. I'm sure you'll make them Beautiful."

And those were the last words Kokichi would ever hear, and he was satisfied.

That was their Final Conversation

.
.
.
"...Kokichi was a monster, a cold-blooded monster who thrived off others suffering", Kaito told the group, just like Kokichi had asked.

Everyone would believed him, they didn't have a reason to doubt him. They hadn't really known Kokichi, and No one but him and Kokichi would ever know who he truly was.

No one would ever know, what truly happened in the hangar.
