Second Choice

Chapter one (Belly Flop)

Finally we're here, I've been waiting for this all year. I arrived five minutes after belly, my best friend in the whole world well let's not forget about Sasha.
I get out the car to see Conrad and Belly staring at each other I wish he would stare at me the way he stares at her.
I stare at belly in envy then all of a sudden I feel hands on my waist I turn around and see Jeremiah, he spins me around and gives me a big hug, oh how I missed him, he's also my best friend.
"Wow you look HOT" he exclaims which turns Conrad's attention away from belly and onto me, he runs up to me and gives me a hug with a little spin, i've never felt safer than I did in that moment.
I could see the envy in belly's eyes, I guess we both have always had a thing for Conrad, I think he likes her though he's always had a soft spot for her, not me though he plays rough with me I think he just sees me as his friend, maybe even his little sister but nothing more.
Conrad puts me down and runs to Steven and Jeremiah, Hey, hey, guys, guys." Steven laughed, "I mean, I— I don't know about you, but I... Well, I— I think it's time for a..." "BELLY FLOP" they all say in unison, belly's eyes widen and she tries to run away but of course they catch her and throw her in the water, "we can't have a belly flop without the flop!" Jeremiah says "oh no" I whisper under my breath, they grab me and throw me in the water.
     Me and belly have the same birthday, so we would pretend we were twins, we did everything together and I mean we still do things together just not everything, my nickname is flop and together we were belly flop, I know stupid name it all started when I was 7 and I accidentally bellyflopped into the pool and to make me less embarrassed belly bellyflopped into the pool and that's how I got my nickname flop, and now it's become a tradition to throw me and belly into the pool on the first day.
     When I was twelve I decided I wanted a new nickname so I changed my nickname to Poppy, my dad used to call me poppy, he said that when they left the hospital with me the petal of a poppy flower fell on me, so that's why he called me poppy, only people I'm really close to call me poppy.
     Belly asked Conrad to help her up and as he grabs her hand she pulls him in, they started playing around a bit so I got out the pool, dried myself and went up to my room.
